12 years after #BF4's release, it’s hard to overstate my disappointment with what EA and BF Studios delivered with #BF6’s return to the modern era. Failing to learn from past missteps and deliver a cohesive experience, it may be the final straw that kills my love for @Battlefield

@iCr3ats If your ping to the server is low and stable, you play at least at 120FPS and 120Hz, then no. What you experience is mostlikely the gameserver being too forgiving when it comes to players with a bad connection shooting you, as well as the low tickrate in Portal and Redsec.

@Clinton885 Step outside your bubble. For many movies, no 4k UHD version is released in Germany anymore, esp. Disney. Other studios have also started to scale back BR releases in Europe. Besides, many movies and TvShows dont release on BR at all as they are produced to sell subs.

@Clinton885 @Hir3ling I wish more people would have been vocal about the concept of owning content when it pretty much died for music, movies and tvshows with the rise of streaming.

@Hir3ling @BattleNonSense That's totally fair. We have multiple consoles in the house all with different accounts, we share games. I also share games with friends, all the time. Digital is useless for me.

As a PC gamer who's been digital only for 15 years, I dont understand the outrage over #GTA6 not shipping on a disc. - You still have to download a huge day1 patch - it (usually) does not need less storage - and (most) physical games you could not lend or resell for years

@the_grantelbart The games shipped on a disc can be revoked as well. Remember that many games use online activation or only ship part of the game on the disk and require either a patch or the download of the remaining game data for the game to be playable. The old days are long gone.

@BattleNonSense I've been digital almost exclusively for that long too. Shipping a box with a code in it, is just insulting, especially on single player games. Sure we're used to it, but let's not forget our digital games can be revoked at any time. Is it likely? Probably not, but still.

@the_grantelbart Yup, first we were told that digital only will reduce costs, but that never translated to games getting cheaper - however that was in part down to the cut charged by valve - and then the costs of running their own content delivery system..

@BattleNonSense On top of that, if it's digital only, why is it 80 fucking bucks? Mario Kart World was the first to do 80 bucks but that game at least actually came with the game on the cartridge. Digital should be cheaper than physical, no questions asked.

@SeguiremL While I am totally pro physical media (especially when it comes to movies & tv shows) as well as owning the content I buy, you have to be mindful of the fact that just because your game ships on a disc, does nolonger guarantee that you actually "own" that content forever.

@bitcloudrzr @theshooter_44 Look at the trend. It gets more common that games won't run without online activation (DRM) and/or a patch. There is no reason to assume GTA6 (the biggest game ever to release!) will not use online DRM, or require to download a portion of the game to run.

@theshooter_44 You should try and disconnect your XBOX/PS from the internet and then install a game from disc. You will find out that online activation/account linking and day1 patches are in many cases mandatory. After that you (might) play offline, just like you can with digital distribution.

@covrovski @Battlefield Oh there are still many great people there with good ideas, if let loose they would build a great game! Its management with their trendfocuswd/salesdriven/shortsighted goals that keeps fucking the games up.

Until management stops meddling and lets the creative team build a cohesive, fun an engaging vision, @Battlefield will keep chasing trends and CoD sales, ultimately continuing to sacrifice the identity that made Battlefield successful in the first place.
Joe Brammer@Brammflakes

Unpopular opinion; take the IP out of circulation for a few years. Let that team build something new with their tools and talent. Battlefield for EA is a safe bet, don’t kid yourself that it’s a failure, even if you say it’s bad.. it’s hugely profitable. But I want to see what would happen if they did something different.

@SgtDangerCow if we are talking about a competitive game (ranked multiplayer), then yes - this is cheating in my book and has been treated as such (i.e. Marvel Rivals). That said its also sloppy programming when the devs dont lock these options down.

Do you think altering config files to give you an edge (ie camera shake to 0) is cheating or ok?
