This one is happening today, moving all KSM balances and operations onto the Kusama Asset Hub. 2️⃣ November 4, 2025 - Migration of $DOT from Polkadot Relay Chain to Polkadot Asset Hub. Now we all know what is happening but what is Relay Chain and Asset Hub and why is this Migration happening In the @Polkadot ecosystem, the Relay Chain is the backbone, it secures the network and connects all parachains. Up until now, it’s also where the native tokens ( $DOT and $KSM) lived. But as the ecosystem grew, managing both security and everyday token operations like; transfers, staking, governance, on the same chain became heavy. That’s where the Asset Hub comes in, this is a system parachain designed to handle those everyday token activities, not just for $DOT and $KSM but also for other assets and tokens built within the ecosystem. The migration basically means that the core functions of $DOT and $KSM are being moved off the Relay Chain and onto the Asset Hub. This allows the Relay Chain to focus on what it does best which is security and interoperability while the Asset Hub takes care of user-facing operations like transfers, staking, and governance.
