The US will have 11 non-working holidays this year, including Presidents Day on Monday. That's below the global average of 13. If you want a lot of time off, consider moving to Sri Lanka, which grants a public holiday every time there's a full moon. pewresearch.org/short-reads/20…

61% of Americans say it's unacceptable for federal immigration officers to wear face coverings that hide their identities while working. There's a huge partisan divide, though: 89% of Democrats say it's unacceptable; 68% of Republicans say it's acceptable. pewresearch.org/politics/2026/…

NEW from @pewresearch: "Americans overwhelmingly say it is acceptable for ordinary people to record video of immigration arrests. A clear majority also say it’s acceptable for people to share information about where enforcement is happening." pewresearch.org/politics/2026/…

From new @pewresearch analysis of Wikipedia at 25 years: "The article with the most page views in a single day over the last 25 years is the article on American political activist Charlie Kirk." pewresearch.org/short-reads/20…

NEW: DINKs – dual income, no kids – are a small but growing share of married couples in the US. Here's what we know about this group of Americans. (Are their lives really as glamorous as the viral videos suggest?) pewresearch.org/short-reads/20…

Republicans (31%) are about twice as likely as Democrats (15%) to say they trust the news they get from podcasts more than other sources. 🔴🔵🗞️ pewresearch.org/journalism/fac…

The National Park Service marked its birthday this week (having been "born" on Aug. 25, 1916). As in the past, the NPS is among the most popular federal agencies: 76% of Americans, including 78% of Republicans and 79% of Democrats, view it favorably. pewresearch.org/politics/2025/…

No surprise that mail and absentee voting declined from 2020 (pandemic year) to 2024, from 45% to 34%. Trump trailed among mail/absentee voters by wide margins in both years (43% to 25% in 2024) while winning comfortably among in-person voters. pewresearch.org/politics/2025/…

Ambitious bills in a president's 1st year often get a tepid reception (see Obamacare). But the lack of enthusiasm for the GOP's OBBA is striking: 47% say it would have a negative effect on them & their families; Just 24% say its impact will be positive. pewresearch.org/short-reads/20…

A June Pew Research survey found that 55% of Republicans (incl. leaners) say it would be acceptable to deport immigrants to a different country if they cannot return to their home country. By comparison, 13% of Democrats say this would be acceptable. pewrsr.ch/446QJwe

A notable finding from the latest @pewresearch survey on immigration: Support for expanding the US-Mexico border wall is up 10 points since 2019, and "this increased support is largely driven by shifts among Democrats." #expanding-the-wall-along-the-u-s-border-with-mexico" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">pewresearch.org/politics/2025/…

60% of U.S. Catholics say the church “should be more inclusive, even if that means changing some of its teachings,” while 37% say the church “should stick to its traditional teachings, even if that means the church gets smaller” in an early February survey. pewresearch.org/religion/2025/…

More Americans say the affordability of food and consumer goods will get worse rather than better over the course of the next year (43% vs. 37%). Another 19% say prices will stay about the same. #SOTU pewresearch.org/short-reads/20…

@MattGrossmann Not a great ideo scale in 1st image: it's not very comprehensive. Based on 8 progressive proposals and 2 conservative (increasing deportations and "healthcare vouchers" for 65+). It only touches on health care, environment, immigration, taxes. Lots of issue areas missing.

Democratic political elites include a much more liberal cast of influencers; they have helped move the party's image leftward, especially on cultural issues Trump broke the Democrats' thermostat: ft.com/content/73a183…
