When people really, really don't want to think about the Margin of Error. This poll cannot credibly show a 1% change.
Popeezy_NG@Popeikue

A fresh Reuters/Ipsos poll released today shows President Donald Trump’s job approval rating rising to 40%, up from 39% in the previous survey (conducted February 28–March 1). Disapproval stands at 58%, yielding a net approval of -18%. This marks a slight rebound from recent lows, where approval hovered in the high 30s to low 40s amid the ongoing U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict (now in its third week), energy market volatility, and domestic concerns like inflation and cost of living. The uptick aligns with today’s market relief (S&P 500 turning green as WTI oil dipped below $93/barrel) and signals of potential de-escalation (e.g., U.S. allowances for Iranian oil tankers through Hormuz, multinational pledges for safe passage). Broader context: Trump’s approval started his second term at about 47% post-inauguration but has trended lower overall, with dips tied to immigration enforcement, tariffs, economic worries, and military actions (strikes on Iran drawing mixed public support, only ~27% approved in early March polls, though views have stabilized somewhat). On specific issues: Ratings remain stronger on crime and immigration among Republicans but lag on economy, inflation, and foreign policy. Recent polls (e.g., early March Reuters/Ipsos) showed disapproval of Iran strikes outweighing approval, with concerns over U.S. casualties, fuel prices, and unclear goals.

Feel like this point from @Nate_Cohn on "affordability" has important implications for elected officials considering whether to spend trillions of dollars on middle-class tax cuts or other priorities like child care or health care.

At 45 years old now, and admittedly far more radio friendly than the average person since it was my father's preferred medium and my first love doing media myself, I suspect Im the generational cut off line for this.

Your reaction to CBS News shuttering its (100 year+) radio service might well depend on your age. For me, I recall listening to Charles Osgood "versifying" the news, and the "World News Roundup." Does it have any relevance among younger audiences?

Somehow I think Senate Dem 2028 wannabes will be clearer in their stance on the Iran supplemental than John Kerry in 2004, when he famously said of the Iraq war supplemental: "I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it." cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITI…

There's a good essay to be written on "layoff language." When you read a sentence like, "While this was a necessary decision, it was not an easy one," you know the axe is falling.

Oh my gosh. @CBSNewsRadio is being shuttered and all CBS News Radio anchors are being let go. I spent the last few years as a local CBS radio affiliate anchor, and tossed to these amazing journalists, so many of whom I admired. This is devastating.

I am concerned all the doom about young college grads is going to convince many that non-college is a better path to prosperity. While obviously true sometimes, the data is clear that college grads are still doing better. nationalreview.com/2026/03/ais-ov…

Every polyamory account includes one partner’s long, drawn-out struggle to convince themselves it’s what they really want, while having near-constant check-ins with themselves and partner(s), usually being gaslit by one or more of them about how healthy this is. I’d rather just feel like I’m doing disproportionate laundry occasionally than do slow emotional abuse.

How high does oil have to get for recession probability to top 50%? $138. That's the average answer in our latest survey of economists, who generally see an increase in inflation but little impact on growth from the Iran war. wsj.com/economy/econom…

I have an idea for the Oscars. What if at the end of every decade there's a Movie of the Decade that's totally retrospective, and it can't have won Best Picture at the time? The movie with staying power? So for the 1990s it probably would have been something like Goodfellas,
