Ethiopia 🇪🇹 overtook South Africa 🇿🇦
Ethiopia allocated $4.8 billion for infrastructure development in 2025 and $1.8 billion of that has been spent on purchase of construction equipment alone. Ethiopia targets gradual takeover of her infrastructure development.
Ethiopia has now overtaken South Africa that spent $1.75 billion in 2024 in construction machinery. Transformation comes at a cost.

If the strait was to open today and our stranded ships headed to DJI, the supplies will not hit petrol stations for another 4-6 weeks. Imagine today's condition worsening for another 1.5 months. That is too close to the farming season, diesel is essential to run equipment. (3/n)

@ec0n1st How do you model ROI in a scenario where an HNW investor, previously unaware of Denbi, visits a resort there and subsequently invests in a nearby agro-processing asset?

These investments require a lot of resources and forex, diverting funds from other pressing needs given our limited fiscal space.
So, would it be odd to expect a positive cash flow soon?
If demand and the ecosystem are not mature yet, how long should we expect to wait?
If it’s a long time, perhaps there were better places to invest our limited resources to generate stronger returns, which could later help us build these parks. No?

Addressing the areas that cause frustration for our citizens in service administration is a priority for us. Today, we inaugurated the Mesob One-Stop Service Center as part of this commitment. There are three critical elements that define this new center: the transformation of an old, dilapidated building into a modern and aesthetically pleasing environment; the integration of a locally developed software system to streamline services; and the preparation of young professionals to deliver dignified and efficient service with a renewed attitude. Twelve institutions have begun offering 40 different services under one roof, enabling citizens to save time and access services more efficiently. Developing systems like this addresses many of the frustrations our citizens face and, over time, will contribute to greater public satisfaction. Today marks a significant step, and Ethiopia will continue to expand on this pilot to ensure better service delivery for all our citizens.
