Indonesia is burning Bird of Paradise plumes in West Papua. This is an attack on the heritage of the whole of New Guinea, Papua New Guinea as well as West Papua. Bird of Paradise is part of our shared culture from Sorong to Samarai. West Papuans are not only facing genocide and ecocide, but also cultural appropriation and destruction.
