The pollen from the London plane trees during these two weeks of the year is like fibreglass, gets in the eyes, throat, lungs. Nobody is immune. It’s not a native tree, it’s a man-made hybrid, even though many of them are pretty old. There ought to be a ban on planting it, and they should be gradually replaced with native trees.

Armed cops swarmed a quiet Spennymoor street after a man in his 40s waved a massive knife at residents, shouting "Allahu Akbar" whilst allegedly approaching women and kids in the street. 😡 Yesterday afternoon on Lotherton Drive, armed officers cordoned the whole road off for a 30 minute standoff. He was eventually arrested for possession of a "bladed article" (even though he had one in each hand) and is still custody. Does anyone else feel that it’s not enjoyable eating out nowadays as it’s become so expensive? I visited a cafe yesterday they wanted £6.50 for a bacon roll, £5.95 for a toasted sandwich which is just 2 slices of bread with a bit of filling toasted. I waited until I got home.
