@eagles_attack @11point7 Like if UCSB, Ark State, and LA Tech can improve their RPI by ~10 spots or so this week, USM could very easily be 13-8 against Q1 instead of 7-5. Ark State probably can't since they didn't make the SB tourney, but its at least possible for the other two.

@eagles_attack @11point7 an RPI between 40-60, and the rest were either midweeks or part of a tournament. Still though, if you take away winning the SEC by nearly 4 games you can make a compelling case for USM. We also have a bunch of games that are just barely outside of Q1.

Resume comparison. We will call team on left team A and team on right team B. Team A is 16-9 in Q1/Q2 games Team B is 23-10 in Q1/Q2 games Who should host higher?

@AggieDub @KendallRogers Right now I’d say that A&M is amongst like 10 teams battling for the 5-8 seeds. Amongst that pecking order, they are currently around 3rd or so.

@KendallRogers What is the realistic ceiling and floor for A&M headed to next week… Win 3 games and can argue as high as…#3? #4? 0-1 and likely in the 7-10 range?

One very good piece of advice for all fans this week. If your team wins/loses a single game, that doesn't mean they are 'locked in' to either scenario. During conference tournament week, what 'other' teams are doing in like situations matters just as much.

@AggieDub @KendallRogers Not Kendall but I’d say the absolute ceiling is probably 4th, maybe 5th if Texas doesn’t go 0-1. Just hard to see them getting higher than UCLA, GT, Georgia. The floor is probably 11th or 12th, but that would take LSU/OU getting to and beating A&M which would be unlikely

But now that they’ve won it? I think getting to the SB championship game should be enough for top 8 imo. Or at least damn close

@fhjckaka @_dhutchinson @marketheridge Last years #8 seed. Almost identical SOS but this team had a losing record against quad 1 and USM has a winning record against quad 1. You’re ignorant if you think the SOS isn’t good enough for a top 8.

Huge win for Alabama. Crimson Tide will host. Question is can they get a top 8? Several contenders for those last spots.

@11point7 I'm a USM fan, but man it feels like an RPI of 38 and very loud series wins over Coastal and USM should have them on right side of the bubble. Maybe needing a couple tournament wins to solidify it... but it seems crazy that they'd still need to win the tourney

6th place finish in Sun Belt is going to be tough to overcome for an at-large bid. Might need to win the tournament.

I'm incredibly proud of Southern Miss for achieving their nation leading 10th straight 40 win season in baseball. We have truly built a powerhouse of a program in Hattiesburg, and I fully believe that one day I'll see us bring home a National Championship (hopefully soon!)

But the fact that it has Arkansas State as our best win whenever we took 2/3 against UCSB, went 3-2 in 5 games against top 15 SEC opponents, swept the RRC, swept LA Tech... its just absurd.

I genuinely don't understand the people who are hating on Crimson Desert. Sure the controls are a little wonky at times and the story isn't incredible, but holy cow I've found myself awestruck at how rewarding the exploration is and how immersive the world is.

@tgh3316 @leftcoastbsbl As far as a good schedule goes? Florida is a good example. Nothing crazy, 3 games with Miami, a few weekend series with good mid majors like UAB, High Point, Kennesaw State… couple midweeks with FSU, FAU, Stetson. Huge difference between that and many other SEC teams.

The major rankings now get to keep their ACC and SEC teams ranked and arguing for hosting spots in the tournament off of “ranked wins” when they didn’t beat anyone in the nonconference. Thats how this racket works. Georgia is top 10 and their best weekend series is a 2-1 win against Wright State LSU multiple unranked losses and losses to teams with losing records. Tennessee home series loss to Kent St. one good win vs Arizona St. Florida loses a home series to High Point. Best wins vs Miami who just lost a series to BC. Kentucky, who’s their best win? St. John’s?

@leftcoastbsbl Really hope they continue playing at a high level and maintain a top tier RPI, because that helps us at USM out a ton on our resume. Plus I just love Big West teams playing well.

@leftcoastbsbl Yeah UCSB should be at least top 20 at this point. They only have one elite signature win against USM, but they have several very good wins and zero losses outside of USM. Can’t wait to see what they do in this next stretch. 19/23 of their games against RPI Top 100 teams.

Tuesday next coast midweek recaps and reactions: UCSB crushed St. Mary’s 13-3. How the Gauchos aren’t ranked in every publication is beyond me. Oregon crushes Xavier 10-0, did what they needed to after the Beavers swept the Musketeers this weekend. UCLA crushes UCI 11-1. Cervantes looks legit. He could be in the weekend rotation soon if he keeps this up. Anteaters at large bid not looking good right now. Arizona State got out to a lead, Arizona made it close and then the Sun Devils pulled away 10-4. Pitching depth looked much better tonight for ASU. Big weekends coming up for both. BYU crushed Utah Tech 19-2. Utah Tech has now lost 3 of their last 4. Nice win for Santa Clara over Pitt 4-3. Pitt came in with a 9 game winning streak and averaging 13 runs per game over that span. SJSU upset Cal 3-2. Spartans find some pitching after getting hit hard this weekend by Pitt. Fullerton walked off SDSU on a 20 foot dribbler. Aztecs only had 3 hits tonight. Bakersfield lucky to get past NAIA Westcliff. Was down 6-2 in the 9th and won it in extras on an error on a pickoff. Cal Poly blows out Fresno 13-3. SLO stats hot after sweeping Hawaii and Fresno stays reeling after getting swept last weekend at Arizona USC moved to 16-0 with a 6-1 win at home vs Long Beach. SC’s staff magnificent again holding the Dirtbags to only 3 hits tonight UCR scored 8 over the final 3 innings but still fell to UNLV 11-10. Rebels move to 13-5. LMU got a big win over Cal Baptist 7-2. LMU scored 5 in the 2nd and led the rest of the way. Sac St upset by UMass-Lowell 7-2. Sac St outhit them 9-7 but had 3 errors on the night. Washington got 4 in the 3rd and held off Seattle 7-4 to avenge a midweek loss two weeks ago. Gonzaga drops game 1 in Minnesota 11-8. Zags pitching staff hasn’t been as good as it has been in recent years. New Mexico St puts up a school record 39 runs in a 39-4 win over NAIA Univ. of the Southwest
