@Reaproy It is happening already - rescue workers without “clearance” are turned away from helping people trapped under buildings. They prioritize military-affiliated families, completely ignoring many poorer wards in Mandalay and Sagaing.

My friend Tom Andrews is exactly right: The UN's Tom Andrews told the BBC that during past relief efforts, the military blocked aid and arrested aid workers. "What we know from past humanitarian disasters, natural disasters, is that the junta does not reveal the truth. It also has a habit of blocking humanitarian aid from getting to where it is most needed," he said. "They weaponise this aid. They send it to those areas that they have control of and they deny it to areas that they do not. So you have areas in which the most acute needs exist and you have literally aid trying to get in, trucks blocking the way, people being arrested and that has been the pattern of their response to natural disasters in the past.
