@KevinLamb74 Just wait until Disney reveals Plageuis, Maul and Dooku's kids too. You know they'll do it someday

A lot of people claim that the Star Wars prequels changed the Force from being something anyone could use into some sort of hereditary biological thing due to the mention of midichlorians. However, almost the exact opposite is true. It was the original trilogy, in Return of the Jedi, that made the Force a family trait as explained by both Yoda before he died and then Luke to Leia on Endor. By creating the prophecy of the Chosen One, Lucas actually painted himself OUT of that corner, and implied that the only reason that the Force was strong in that *one single* family was because Anakin himself was conceived by the Force. But everyone else? It doesn't matter who your parents are. That's why the Jedi must use some other measure to determine whether someone can be trained, and since George wanted Jedi to start being trained shortly after birth, the addition of midichlorians allowed him to provide the Jedi with an objective scientific method for determining someone's potential very early on. This does raise the question as to whether that was the *right* method to measure Force potential, since there are several times in the Saga where we see that people who overly rely on technology are actually in error or even straight up bad guys. Maybe a thousand years ago the Jedi would meditate and get visions of who was to be trained, but as their ability to use the Force became diminished over generations (as mentioned by Mace Windu in that one conversation he had with Yoda), perhaps the midichlorian counter became their go-to. And then as they became more dependent on that their Force sensitivity atrophied even further. Fun stuff to ponder. And then of course all of that just further highlights the stupidity of Disney's sequel trilogy, because TROS reveals that Rey is strong in the Force because she's a Palpatine and not someone randomly selected by the Force nor a descendant of the Chosen One. According to Disney, any offspring of any powerful Force user (even a Sith!) will be strong in the Force which begs the question as to why Palpatine would have sought apprentices like Maul or Dooku or Vader in the first place if he could have just sired an army of loyal Sith warriors on his own. But I digress since that's all bad fan-fiction anway. My main point is that the Chosen One prophecy provided nice context as to why the Skywalker family was unique in having hereditary Force potential, while still allowing any number of other people to become Jedi as originally indicated by ANH and ESB.

@BeautifulSOAB @NoMoneProd @Oskarzyca1 @Meelsie143 So why would he say, a prison like this? Instead of like, I've never been imprisoned before, it's a subtle implication he was in a prison before, it seems more like you're desperate to make these small details retcons cause you can't argue anything otherwise

guys I know it’s such a hard sell but I promise andor is worth watching even if you’re not really a star wars fan. I promise you this show is nothing like the others. this isn’t just good in the way the mandalorian is “good”
Eric Italiano@ericitaIiano

rewatching Andor and it remains a small miracle that dog-brained Lucasfilm gave Tony Gilroy $600M to make a show about institutional rot, the glacial pace of resistance, and the crushing human toll of a revolution that virtually all of its soldiers will never see the fruits of

@RJSWtrilogyWhen @PalmyrPar Why bother doing that if he never considered it canon? That makes no sense. That'd be like if Tolkien was still alive today, wrote a sequel to Lord of the Rings, and included easter eggs to the Shadow of Mordor games and Rings of Power.

@BeautifulSOAB @PalmyrPar he would sometimes look things up so that if he was doing something the EU had already done he could give it the same name or description as a fun treat for EU fans. the story was never canon to him

I think Andor is the best Star Wars can get without Lucas. You’re not going to get the unique genius of the original auteur, and trying to recreate it has been a ridiculous disaster. The best you can do is this sort of grim, new wave interpretation of an existing world that’s good as its own thing.
Kevin Lamb@KevinLamb74

I don't know who needs to hear this, but Andor's grim portrayal of homicidal rebels was dumb. Screw Luthen, Saw Gerrera, and Andor himself. Star Wars is a fairy tale. The good guys are good. Han in ANH and Lando in ESB is as gray as they get (which is to say, not very.) To say that the ends justify the means misses the entire point of Anakin's fall.

@Goosey1994 @KevinLamb74 "Its using sci-fi allegories to describe real life events through another medium that is more broadly accepted." Sounds like it doesn't even need the Star Wars branding on it at all

@BeautifulSOAB @KevinLamb74 Its using sci-fi allegories to describe real life events through another medium that is more broadly accepted. I dont think it has anything to do with right vs left US politics as much as it describes the fall of authoritarianism. Educate yourself

@PalmyrPar 1. Even more reason to reject Disney and support the EU. 2. The context for those quotes is that George Lucas focuses on the medium that works for him (movies), while letting other people work in their fields. He's just admitting that he can't keep track of it all at once.

@BeautifulSOAB 1. It’s getting imported because the sequels flopped and Disney is desperate to get anything going again, such as baiting EU people with cheap tricks. 2. Lol. Lmao.

@floatiesforkino @BeautifulSOAB @PalmyrPar I’m not clicking sketchy links, so you’re going to have to send me a screenshot that proves that George Lucas did in fact say that. Legends WAS Disney until that bitch Kathleen Kennedy ruined everything.
