Put together some numbers comparing the pitching and defensive metrics from the 2025 and 2026 clubs after seeing comments that this year’s group is “leaps and bounds” better. The cumulative team stats are listed below. Walks were up and more runs were allowed in 2025, while strikeouts are higher in 2026, but I also think a large part of that can be attributed to a tougher overall schedule and some more road games last season. Outside of that, a lot of the numbers are actually pretty comparable. Make no mistake, the 2026 team is absolutely elite on the mound and defensively.
