I am coaching 14-18 year olds. Today, we had a big lead, so I decided to give one of my 14 year olds, who has been wanting to pitch, a shot on the bump – he has been playing organized ball for just one year, and he had never pitched but has been working on it tirelessly with his Dad in between practices and games. His father helps me out when I am short on coaches, so I had him warm him up and said, “just let me know if he is throwing strikes, and it is his mound.” When I asked his Pop if he was ready, he said, “I am way more nervous than he is, so I guess so...” Two innings. Two strikeouts. No runs allowed. Baseball rules.
