In 2019 we set out to reform our storied union. We organized like hell to win 1M1V. We ran a slate of reformers & swept the election. Members stood up & won transformational contracts winning back COLA, a just transition and more. We are celebrating these historic agreements.

The UAW congratulates SINTTIA on their recent union election win, as workers at the Fränkische Industrial Pipes in Silao, Guanajuato, voted to join the independent Mexican union. SINTTIA garnered world recognition by organizing the first independent union at the massive General Motors facility in Silao in February 2022. aflcio.org/2022/2/4/gm-si… Workers at Fränkische Industrial Pipes overcame intense harassment, intimidation, and illegal firings for organizing to establish an independent union. The UAW understands that when Mexican workers have independent unions that bargain strong contracts, workers on both sides of the border win.
