The main character of a conf is always the attendee. Not the organizers, not the MC's, not the keynote, it's the attendee. I see so many confs miss this. On stage you should address who's in the room. You know who's there, you have the registration list. During the event you should use this knowledge to facilitate conversations and make introductions. In the post-conf gallery you should include every photo of attendees (not just speakers). Stop thinking about conf logistics as "herding cats", you're hosting your community. This is hospitality. Your community is not a marketing segment. It's a group of people united with common struggles and dreams. If they're at your conf, they've placed some faith in you that you can help with this. Honor their ambition. Exceed their expectations. ok, I'm done.
