@AdamLowisz @elonmusk @fworksconfetti keep in mind tho that most people go to their doctors and want a magic fix and are in denial about any lifestyle change recommendations. Doctors aren’t just prescribing for no reason (hopefully) but usually because patients are swearing they’ve tried everything and need help

LeBron won a playoff series *in the West* in year 23 with Marcus Smart, Rui Hachimura, Luke Kennard & Deandre Ayton has his 4 best teammates. That's really insane. Kobe never won a playoff series without Shaq & Pau. MJ never won a playoff series without Pippen. People still debate who the GOAT is though hahaha.

Luka Doncic Initially suffered a grade 2 hamstring strain, and reportedly flew to Spain for treatment. Classically these take 6 to 8 weeks to return to play. With the correct injections and aggressive rehab approach, that sometimes can be safely sped up to 4 to 6 weeks. He suffered it on April 2, exactly one month ago today. Doncic has been with the team for a couple weeks now, but has yet to really advance in his running and ability to play 5 on 5. Therefore he’s not close to returning. Despite initially looking like a sweep, it took the Lakers 6 games to beat a Durant-less Rockets team. Yes, that bought Doncic a little bit more time, but not enough. I think realistically the fastest Doncic could return is Monday May 11 for Game 4. If Lakers are competitive maybe they can steal one of the first two games in OKC, and prevent potentially being down 0-3 heading into that Game 4. Maybe they surprise us and it’s 3-0. Whatever treatments they did in Spain, in my opinion, weren’t strong enough because he SHOULD be farther along than he is if they use the right product, volume and technique.
Brett Siegel@BrettSiegelNBA

OKC vs. LAL schedule: It will be tough for Luka Doncic to get back with games every other day. I’m told he’s being re-evaluated next week before potentially being cleared to increase his workouts/practice. Won’t have a chance to return before the 2nd week of the series.

This study came out in 2020 I believe but this was known in the field for probably the last 10 years or so at least. Good surgeons and docs know not to jump to meniscus trim/cleanup surgeries right away. They should only be reserved for cases where non operative care has been exhausted and patient has no other options. However there are plenty of times when this IS indicated for a meniscus injury, particularly with severe locking episodes or if there’s an unstable flap of tissue Meniscus tears are a very complex thing to manage well and simplify it down to “well this article says surgery is bad for me” isn’t fair. Bottom line- get second opinions if you feel your provider is jumping to a surgery right away and can’t answer questions based on these findings.
John Arnold@johnarnold

Many years ago I hurt my knee playing sports. I was referred to the orthopedist for one of the local pro teams. After keeping me waiting for 2.5 hours, he diagnosed a cartilage tear and recommended surgery. I was so mad at his manner and tardiness I left without scheduling. The next week I got a second opinion from a much younger doc who was likely more current on the recent medical literature. He looked at the same MRI. He said he could do surgery now but his advice was to wait 30 days and see if it healed on its own. It did. Medical reversal is when a practice that became widely used is later shown to be ineffective or even harmful. Examples like meniscus surgery show the need to keep gathering evidence. A not immaterial part of the practice of modern medicine doesn't improve health, and may be net harmful.

@Kaddlesdd @DanielleGansky everyone’s a little different but mostly what goes into the decision is based on current dosing and how long they’ve been on as well as the reason for coming off of it. Typically few weeks to a few months would be common

ANTIDEPRESSANT WITHDRAWAL INJURY is a serious neurological brain injury that happens even when you stop an SSRI following “standard” doctor tapering advice. After long-term use, the brain & nervous system adapt and change but the rushed 2-4 week one-size-fits-all tapers doctors still use are dangerously fast and actively causing brain injuries on a massive scale. Right now, thousands of people are being harmed simply by doing exactly what their doctors tell them and end up with long-term neurological damage and years of disability. The system gaslights victims, denies the harm, and hides the truth. This rivals the opioid crisis. If you've been affected, you're not alone. Share your story. #antidepressantwithdrawal #pssd

My experience with psych med withdrawal/akathisia from lexapro. There are over 600 stories at prescribed-harm.com now. Worse than mine. Like my dad’s. If you want you can add your story, if you’ve been injured by medications, and I’ll add to it to the site too.
