#LOLA A mere 1.something KG when she came home the first time and I held her in my arms. A mere 1.something KG when I brought her home for her final ride. Nothing prepared me for collecting my 39kg Lola's tiny ashes. Nothing. But I was given courage by many of you here. I'm grateful for the love you showed Lola. The bestest and goodest girl. I'm not sure when my heart will wake up again.

Nieu-Bethesda is a small village in the Eastern Cape about 50km from Graaff-Reinet. There are no tarred roads, animals roam freely, the architecture is quaint and quirky, there's no petrol stations or ATM machines, and yet everything works as it should 🇿🇦❤️ It's hard to capture the charm of Nieu-Bethesda in just four pictures and they don't adequately describe how wonderful this place really is 🥰 In times gone by, agriculture was the driving force of Nieu-Bethesda’s economy; the region’s Angora goats and Karoo lamb are famous. Nowadays much of the industry is based around art. There are craft shops and galleries, potteries and sculpture gardens – most famously, the late Helen Martins’ extraordinary “Owl House”. Life is beautifully simple in Nieu-Bethesda but that doesn't mean it's boring. Everyone is incredibly friendly, there's a real sense of community, and you feel at peace when you visit. The village has preserved its authentic Karoo character and ambience whilst being open to visitors looking to experience the tranquillity and the beauty of its natural surroundings. So why should any of you visit? Well I think the secret sauce of Nieu-Bethesda are the people that live in it. Everyone has a unique story as to how they landed up in Nieu-Bethesda but they all agree that they love it there, and you truly feel it when you visit. Big love to @SasolSA for helping us get here and also to @KiaSouthAfrica for our Sorrento. Last but not least, big love to @Veldskoenshoes for being our road trip partner. PS. Have you ever been to Nieu-Bethesda? If so, please describe your experience in the comments section so that others can get a better sense of the magic of Nieu-Bethesda 🪄

@likeatouristza @Veldskoenshoes @SasolSA @KiaSouthAfrica A group of 12 of us just spent 10 days camping there. It was a wonderful experience- we hiked, biked, ran, relaxed as well as spent lots of time eating at the restaurants in town. An unexpected highlight is Die Winkel which literally sells everything.. we bought a guitar!!

I’m resharing this after some of the kak comments I got on my post yesterday. I was being funny. Majority understood it. We all laughed. I’m actually still laughing. And then the homophobes popped in to say hi. A solid reminder than this platform is not toxic, some of you are. Also, being mean to a random stranger on the internet brings nothing good to the world. It adds no value. It also makes no sense. Dealing with struggles in your life shouldn't come at someone else's expense. Be kinder than necessary, always. People are going through stuff that you know nothing about. Anyway, I hope the person reading this has the most incredible day. I hope something happens to remind you that there is good in this world… and I hope you feel loved, appreciated and know you are enough, just the way you are. That’s it. Okay. Love you. Bye.

I love that my timeline is full of happiness and good things! Deleted the drama. Blocked the bullshit. Nullified the negativity. Cancelled the kak. And muted the mean. My Twitter is a safe, joyful place for me. A solid reminder that Twitter is not toxic, some of you are. 👀

Cyclists please be very aware cycling in the farms lands around Eastlands / Benoni - 2 cyclists shot this morning and sadly one has passed away. It is a very popular route- please use other routes. Attacked by 5 suspects. 3 have been caught still looking for 2.

Shotgun wedding at home today before the lady starts Chemo tomorrow. Four years since starting the previous chemo. Happy to be married for the second time in my life. Deeply confrontational to know it can only last a couple of years.

I get to. I wake up every single day at 5am... sometimes even earlier, and I get to sit at my desk in my office with this little sidekick (the other pups are usually still in bed). I read, and I write, and I edit, and I plan, and I get to do the things that fill my cup. I publish articles, and work on interviews and keynotes and prepare for radio and TV spots. I get to do what I absolutely love. I've said this before, but those 3 words are possibly the most important when you think about the day, week, month or year ahead. When you say "I get to" instead of "I have to", your entire world will change. While "getting to take out the rubbish bin" may not seem glamorous, there are other moments that this little trick will turn into a world of possibility… and more importantly, gratitude. "I get to search and write good news for people around the world, who continue to support my little publication", "I get to phone my mom, most probably 3 or 4 times today… how lucky am I?", "I get to work on 3 presentations that will turn into new business", "I get to see my friends later and spend quality time with the people I love". We often dress our opportunities up as stress, but they are, in fact, blessings. Saying" I get to" instead of "I have to" helps you remember that these are opportunities you would miss if they were gone. It's a simple change that can remind you to be thankful and happy for the things you normally take for granted. I get to. That's it. Okay. Love you. Bye.

Many South Africans are very worried about the present state of affairs, let alone the future. In times like these, it helps to listen to the level-headed, clear-thinking people - and @VusiThembekwayo is one of the few. 📺 bit.ly/GG150823
