NATO has historically acted as a deterrent… removing it changes that equation. In conflicts like Afghanistan, NATO allies fought alongside U.S. forces. Over 1,000+ non-U.S. NATO troops were killed in Afghanistan. Article 5 = “an attack on one is an attack on all.” NATO officially declared the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. as an attack on the entire alliance. This was the only time in history Article 5 has been triggered. NATO didn’t just offer words—it provided real military, intelligence and operational support. NATO helped prevent large-scale war in Europe since WWII. The U.S. benefits from bases, logistics and cooperation across Europe with NATO. Iran has not attacked a NATO country directly, so the alliance isn’t automatically triggered. European leaders have explicitly said the conflict is “not a NATO matter.” Several NATO allies say the U.S. acted without full coordination. NATO countries worry joining could trigger a larger regional or even global conflict. NATO countries aren’t refusing because they support Iran… they’re refusing because: - It’s not a treaty obligation - They weren’t involved in the decision - The risks (war, oil shocks, escalation) are high - Their priorities are elsewhere (especially Russia/Ukraine) Fighting could make their own economies worse. Trump flacks like Marco Rubio will be historically seen as completely duped sycophants.

USA’s demand for allied support suggests the campaign is going worse than expected. “Trump walked into one of the most combustible regions on earth convinced a quick win was within reach. This time, he appears to have miscalculated badly.” NATO has little appetite for this kind of operation. It is a defensive alliance. This war serves Israeli regional interests more than anything else. Trump’s threats come after 14 months of repeated shocks to the alliance. He has demanded control of Greenland, a Danish territory and NATO member. The US has cut financial support for Ukraine’s defense against Russia, forcing other NATO members to pay for American weapons. Trump has imposed punitive tariffs on allies. And Washington’s new national security strategy has been read in European capitals as ideological warfare against the continent. Yet at the same time, Trump has been explicit that America will no longer fight wars far from home. America First. No foreign entanglements. As with so much from this administration, the signals point in every direction at once.

The President of the United States woke up this morning and posted a 150-word personal attack on Bruce Springsteen. Not on Iran. Not on the tariffs crashing global markets. Not on the recession warnings. Bruce Springsteen. There is a standard psychological tool called the Hare Psychopathy Checklist. It has 20 items scored on a scale from 0 to 40. The cutoff for a diagnosis of psychopathy is 30.  The average person scores around 4. The average maximum security prisoner scores 22.  A panel of eminent psychiatrists assessed Trump before his 2024 sentencing in New York. He scored 36 out of 40.  The 25th Amendment exists precisely for this. Section 4 allows the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president unable to carry out his duties.  It has never been used. In any normally functioning democracy, the bar would be far lower. Most leaders in that position resign themselves. Instead, this one is on Truth Social at 7:58 AM calling a rock legend a dried-up prune. America is fighting a war it cannot exit in Iran. Markets are in freefall. Allies are making alternative plans.
