@doyonlab Adding a furin cleavage site in addition to 2A can help with efficiency and also shorten the peptide scar!

Calling #scitwitter #biotwitter #chemtwitter does anyone have a pH meter they actually like? Easy to use, easy to clean, accurate, not fussy, simple user interface, lasts longer than 1 year before croaking? Please comment below! 🙏

@richardson_lab Good Q. I think DNA triggers the Sting pathway so would be interesting to see if there’s a differential response, but yes also number of edited cells would be a readout

@BeekeWienert We think we can make this less toxic than uncrosslinked templates because we can use less of it. It also works with things that suppress toxicity (ssDNA, etc). You know more about this than we do, so what’s the best thing to show? Total edited cells X hours after treatment?

Take a look at this! We show that adding interstrand crosslinks to DNA used as a template for homology directed repair boosts the frequency of gene editing. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Looks like I am going to get to fly again. First time in 2 years. What do I need to know? Is pre-check still a thing?

Pleased to share our cover art for EMBO! Our discovery of cholinergic adipose macrophages activating thermogenesis brought to mind the Greek myth of Prometheus, who brought fire to humanity. Grateful to the EMBO team who helped turn my concept into beautiful Hellenic-inspired art

The lab is now NIH funded! Many thanks to mentors and students for making this possible. Excited (and a little nervous) to see where these projects take us.
