This is why I think developers should be meaner. The fact a simple interaction about the artistic direction of a game spiralled into a controversy because of the fragile entitlement of gamers and grifters is why I think developers should be assholes honestly

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO SUBNAUTICA 2.. > be Subnautica 2 developers > player politely asks why you can’t kill most creatures > level designer snaps back: "This is not a killing game, go play Sons of the Forest if you want violence" > another dev adds that big creatures will stay safe because "the game should feel right" The first Subnautica let you stab leviathans with a knife. Now they want you to peacefully coexist with 50-meter monsters like it’s a underwater yoga class. Why do developers treat their most loyal fans like this? Why can’t they just answer normally without being condescending and aggressive? Loyal players are the ones who supported you for years. If you keep talking down to them, they’ll simply stop playing. And in the end, you - the developers - will be the ones who lose the most. Peak "go touch grass" energy in 2026. You think this approach will help the game long-term or are we watching it slowly die?

@467Doggo Tbh i fall in camp A, i think its a little mean to expect players to completely dismantle their builds and basically play as a character or team utterly detached from what their going for, but also in a turn based game i genuinely dont know how else skill checks would function...

@467Doggo Ive found theres 2 camps, camp: in a ROLE PLAYING GAME, i should be able to beat the boss in a way i want and is fitting with my vision, and camp: it would be bad game design to let players beat any boss any way they want, and making them change their core approach is healthier

My favorite genre of boss is the one that make people go "Dude, this rpg boss is so tuff is unfair!"
And then you play it yourself and find out all you need to do is actually use the game mechanics to its fullest and have a strategy instead of brute forcing it

I would get if he turned on Orion AFTER he became a prime, thats the very symbol of the oppression hes lived under, and it would be a deep betrayal. But no, he accidentally shoots his friend (i get orion saved sentinel by intervening) and his first response is to feel slighted...
