Open this tweet and weep. 😢 And then ask yourselves why some people think we are extreme for banning phones at school. Parents - Same thing is happening with your kids at home! Love your kids and take the phone away. At the very least, use Screentime. Set your children free.

Wow! Worth an experiment?

Great point and is often overlooked, especially when working with younger players

1. You pick up on certain tendencies/words that are consistent. 2. You can reflect on whether the coaching point is aligned with the feedback you are giving. 3. Time spend coaching vs. time spent playing. 4. Language used - efficient? 5. Tone used - inspiring, condescending etc?

Don’t let the visual mask the coaching point! Strip the visual away, and just focus on the quality of info. It’s an uncomfortable way of reflecting - hearing the sound of your own voice is awkward. But there are some interesting takeaways from this new method of reflection:

For Coaches: The second stoppage was almost as well done as the first but it had the result essentially of erasing the first one from players’ working memory. teachlikeachampion.com/blog/notes-for…

After the coach said “Play,” you could see the girls using the idea… applying and adapting it… you could see the change in their movements. It was powerful. But only for a little while…. teachlikeachampion.com/blog/notes-for…

We've been focusing on our coaching points recently (timing, detail, language and tone). Trying to find the balance between ‘getting in and out’ and making sure the players understand the coaching point. Using words that the players understand. Finding a quality in simplicity.

Excuse the swearing, but how impressive is this? Half-time, 3-1 down away at the Champions League winners. His ability to maintain intensity of the talk in German and English is brilliant 👏
Darian Wilken@CoachDarian

Great insight into the half-time talk from Jesse Marsch in their game vs Liverpool. Interesting to note the emphasis placed group cohesion and re-aligning mentality before addressing any tactical components.
