Man I love #sugarbeet harvest!

Sugar beets are a root crop that grows underground and typically where the weather is cooler. On the other hand, sugar cane is a tropical grass and grows in warmer climates in the tropical belt. Both produce the same sugar that ends up in your pantry. bit.ly/3yvjlR1

Ever wonder where the smell of soil comes from? Or why it’s more noticeable after rain? Streptomyces (this week’s #MicrobeMonday) create a compound called geosmin, which makes that smell! When there are more Streptomyces in the soil, the smell is more prevalent🚜 #FarmFactFriday

Not good. Palmer amaranth found in Traill County

Mike Metzger is the Vice President of Agriculture and Research at the grower-owned @MDFCoop in North Dakota. Mike and his team work to give Minn-Dak’s sugarbeet farmers the tools they need to grow the best possible crop. #SugarSustainably youtu.be/ALV1TCO_kZI
