Soybean plots in the ground. Soybean seeds are in a little moisture but the rain this weekend will be perfect for them! #ISUCrops

@XtremeAgFarming @AgricenCo I hope Kelly is also testing the -40 units of N without the Agricen to see how that alone compares with the biological product and the higher N rate. 🤞

Kelly Garrett pulled back 40 pounds of anhydrous in this @AgricenCo corn trial and admits even the team gets a little nervous trying some of these ideas. Question is… can biology make up the difference AND improve ROI? #agriculture #nitrogen

Soil crusting + sidewall compaction may look different—but both limit emergence, root growth, and early vigor. With reports of both coming in from the field, take time to check your fields! 👉 Read more from: crops.extension.iastate.edu/post/soil-crus…

We've had reports of cutworms activity. While we focus a lot on black cutworms (migratory) in corn, they are't the only species! There are also bronzed and dingy cutworms (native). Read more about how to ID different cutworms and scouting tips: crops.extension.iastate.edu/post/refresh-y…

@alex_woodall @nciacrops This was on a pretty light soil, which played a big role in how few plants were affected. I’m sure it could’ve been much worse with heavier rain or heavier soil!

Today a Bondurant Bluejay (colored by my 7 year old) joined me at work. The school will get some images to share different career paths with the kids! #ISUCrops

Warmer and wetter than average predictions coming out of @NOAA Climate Prediction Center for the next couple weeks. A few chances of rain in the forecast this week as well. #ISUCrops

As a society, I think we need to come together to banish city wide garage sales.

@1boilerfan Starting out so early with their growing point aboveground is a definite disadvantage when it comes to frost. I hope you see some good regrowth!

@mjanders1 The corn is looking better than the beans at this point! But we can’t do anything about the beans for a while so we’ll let them be for now haha.

Weed glamour shots from today. Winter annuals are on their way out, summer annuals range from just emerging to several inches tall. Waterhemp emergence is in full force but won’t likely peak until June. #ISUCrops

When recording a video on the importance of weed management, one must bring out the big dogs to provide authority on the topic. #ISUCrops

I found emerging Asian copperleaf in Franklin County, IA on May 4th. This field was identified 3 years ago as having Asian copperleaf, but this is the earliest I have seen it germinate at this location. Here is a link to a new publication on this weed. extension.illinois.edu/media/9233/dow…
