On Monday I had the honour of being elected the leader of the SNP group on @GlasgowCC. Being elected to lead your political family is an honour beyond words. In September I will be the SNP candidate to succeed Susan Aitken as Council Leader when she steps down. I am very humbled.

Incredible election results in Scotland & Wales, with voters overwhelmingly endorsing the politics of hope & self-determination.
Whether you live here in Ireland or across the water, we now have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to take control of our own affairs, with the potential for three pro-independence First Ministers.
People are looking beyond Westminster towards a brighter, more positive future, free from the shackles of the British government.
With more opportunities in the time ahead to build on this historic change, I look forward to continuing to work with the SNP & Plaid Cymru.

🇮🇪 🏴🏴I have sent my warm congratulations to the leaders of Plaid Cymru and the SNP on their momentous electoral successes today.
It is a landmark day for a future beyond the Union. Here in Ireland that future means ending partition and the reunification of our country.
I look forward to working with both Rhun ap Iorwerth and John Swinney in the spirit of friendship, solidarity and real progress for the people of our nations.
