If Illinois wins the National Championship… where would it rank all-time in surprising teams to win it all in Men’s College Basketball?

@RaphealDavis3 Every state needs a shot clock. However, you might as well go out and guard the ball if your state doesn’t yet.

This is NOT basketball. Indiana High School Basketball needs a shot clock in the worst way. Stuff like this doesn’t prepare guys for the next level. Can’t understand how people continue to defend stuff like this. It’s bad for the game.
Dominic Miranda@DomMirandaTV

In the 4A State Title game, Crown Point held the ball for a minute plus…. With 5 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. No movement… as deafening boos came down from this Gainbridge Fieldhouse crowd. Indiana needs a shot clock and it needs it now.

Illinois legitimately might have been the most overlooked 3-seed in March Madness history. Absolutely NOBODY had Illinois getting to the Final Four. World going to have to pay attention now.

@TomOatesWSJ Wisconsin absolutely could have competed with anyone this year…which is why people are rightfully disappointed in losing to High Point in the first game of the tournament.

Four Big 10 teams in NCAA Elite 8 & #Wisconsin beat all four. Indeed, it was 5-2 vs. Michigan, Illinois, Purdue, Iowa. Yet, some are pushing narrative that the program isn’t competitive with the nation’s best after it again failed to make the second weekend. Facts say otherwise.

This tournament is wide open. It wouldn’t shock me to see any of these 4 teams cut down the nets in Indy Michigan Arizona UConn Duke I don’t think UConn is as good as the other 3 but you can’t ignore the Huskies in the tourney. They are everything Sweet 16 Tommy thinks he is.

@SenTedCruz College soccer has lost some of its appeal, because the big teams have started taking the best players from the smaller teams every season, and the stories of surprises (“Cinderella”) have disappeared.

College sports are losing what made them special. Cinderella runs don’t last when the biggest programs raid mid-majors' rosters each season. Congress has to fix the legal mess here before college sports as we know it turns into a pumpkin. sports.yahoo.com/mens-college-b…

The transfer portal has screwed up college sports. My bill is simple: you get 5 consecutive years to play 5 seasons and you get 1 transfer. After that, if you transfer again, you sit out a year. This will fix 80% of the issues in NIL today.
OutKick@Outkick

Exclusive: @CoachForGov introduces ‘Student Athlete Act Of 2026’ aimed at curtailing transfer portal chaos. It give athletes five years to play five seasons, while also penalizing a player 1 year for transferring a second time, he tells @OutKickHotMic outkick.com/sports/tommy-t…

@B1047vegas @JordanLoppnow At the end of the day, it’s not as much public vs. private as much as it is economically advantageous communities. People in Whitefish Bay can provide more opportunities for their children than a lot of other communities can. Club teams, private training, etc.

@JordanLoppnow If they were a private school everyone would be in an uproar; I’m taking a wild guess that if you have kids, who like sports, and they wanna win. That’s the school you’re looking at. And that’s school choice. But if this was WB Dominican doing the winning, it’s “recruiting” 🙄

@davidullsperge @TravisBOUND That’s a perfect example? Right now each school has a Varsity and JV1 team (4 teams) and combined there will be a Varsity, JV1 and JV2 (3 teams). That seems like less opportunity and playing time to me.

@TravisBOUND Combining and having more students, at face value, may look like losing opportunities, but I have always argued that it will actually add opportunities and playing time. A perfect example is now having the ability to have a JV1 and JV2 team instead of just JV2

This will be very interesting to follow on just how this works out. - How will coaching roles be determined? - What will the name/mascot/colors be? - What conference will they end up in long-term? Currently they're in the Glacier Trails, but with the new school having a combined enrollment of 1700-1800, that's not a good fit against Kewaskum, Kettle Moraine Lutheran, & others who are under 1000. North Shore? - How successful will the new singular school be in athletics? - How many players will transfer due to increased competition and loss of opportunities? - Certainly understand why they are doing it, but it will roughly cut in half the number of playing and roster opportunities for student-athletes in the West Bend district.

@finleykuehl Im afraid Wisconsin will run back the same front court if all 4 pieces stay. I agree though Evans would be great, the Badgers need an athletic player that can score inside and defend well.

@ConnerHaleSprts @TomSlic08693047 @T_Oglesby22 NIL sucks at Iowa. The facilities suck at Iowa. They really were average during the regular season and Stirtz is gone. I’m not sure this is exactly anyone’s dream job, whether they grew up in Iowa City or not.

@TomSlic08693047 @T_Oglesby22 McCollum is a known winner and very successful even at smaller schools, I think his goal is to consistently make Iowa a great basketball program without having to leave for Kansas or North Carolina. Those jobs already seem to have people in line if there’s a change in staff.

The beauty of the Dolphins having pick 11 is that only ten players can be drafted before they are on the clock. Fernando Mendoza Jeremiyah Love Carnell Tate Sonny Styles David Bailey Arvell Reese These six players will almost certainly go before Miami meaning one of the following will be there. Francis Mauigoa Caleb Downs Rueben Bain Mansoor Delane Vega Ioane Jermod McCoy Makai Lemon
