Principals and leaders, the way we we speak about our teachers and staff matters. People are listening to what we have to say. If we aren't supporting them, who will? I am going to continue to try to center my people instead of myself, join me?

An effective leader checks in and checks on the mental & emotional health of their staff and not just check off on their productivity.

The most important factor for student success in the classroom is the teacher. So, when we hear to do what's best for the kids, that actually means to value, support, and appreciate teachers. Morale greatly impacts teaching/ learning.

Effective leaders don't feel the need to micromanage. They trust & respect their staff to do their job. They know their role is to sometimes mentor, but to always support and encourage those they lead. Effective leadership is getting the best out of those you lead.

Education is not teacher centered or even student centered, but it is relationship centered. Teachers thrive with positive admin relationships & students thrive with positive teacher relationships. Relationships are the foundation of education.

Trust is the key to a successful team. Excellence can't be micromanaged.

The most dynamic school culture is created when everyone is encouraging and supporting each other. The power of this team culture is palpable when you walk into a school. The buzz, chatter, smiles and the energy of positivity!

Teachers don't need to work 60+ hours a week, spend weekends grading/planning, or say yes to everything they're asked to do to be considered PASSIONATE about their job. That's burnout, not passion.

The #1 priority of admin should be staff morale. Everything else is secondary. Here's a few tips: * give them a voice * Trust them as professionals * Treat everyone as individuals/ humans * Respect their time * Show them you care personal/professional * celebrate/ appreciate

Leaders, how is your teacher retention? If you want to keep the best teachers, treat them like they are the best. Few teachers leave an environment where they feel valued, supported, appreciated, and treated like professionals. This is more important now than ever!

Teachers love Admin who: 1) Roll up their sleeves to help 2) Really listen 3) Present: in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, lunchroom 4) Value teachers time 5) Support/encourage them 6) Respect /value them 7) Have their back 8] Appreciate them
