I first learnt about bitcoin in December 2010 when it was 22c. I was sent my first coins soon after. I wrote what is generally thought to be the first book on bitcoin from a recognised publisher back in 2013-4. Here we are in November 2025 and I have just failed @TheFCA 's crypto questionnaire, meaning I am not allowed to buy a bitcoin ETN.

🤯 The UK’s biggest retail investment platform says Bitcoin “has no intrinsic value.” This comes the same week the FCA lifted its four-year ban on allowing British retail investors to hold regulated Bitcoin products in the UK. Hargreaves Lansdown’s statement adds that Bitcoin “is not an asset class” and it “shouldn’t be relied upon to help clients meet their financial goals.” Meanwhile, since launch, IBIT has smashed ETF records, fastest ETF in history to $10B and $50B, now ~$99B AUM holding 800k+ BTC, and among the biggest 2025 inflow magnets across all U.S. ETFs.
