He’s right bc we tax income, not wealth. Bezos takes out a tiny salary, pays the income tax, and lives off loans borrowed against his stocks, basically tax free. They all do this and now 935 billionaires hold more wealth than 170 million Americans. It’s time to tax wealth.

Lot of discourse over pilot vs episode 1 and this post below is correct! I think the key factor that maybe isn’t being considered is that Glitch isn’t a traditional studio! We’ve had examples already of how they operate and the MO is clear: the pilot BECOMES episode 1 if the show gets picked up. We wrote the pilot of Gameoverse accordingly… introducing characters, concepts, rules, themes, and wrapping things up as if it’s a pilot, but also positioning it in canon as if it’s an episode 1… because if we DO get more episodes, I think that it would be confusing for the audience to reboot the show with a “proper”episode 1. Also consider… if we get more episodes or not, this is the only episode people are going to see for quite some time, or ever. So it should feel wrapped up in a bow, like a pilot! So… everyone is right about what the difference between a pilot and a first episode are… We simply produced something that acts as both. And I think that’s pretty cool! It’s another neat aspect of producing a show outside of the traditional entertainment system!

Pilot: This might be the only opportunity we have to convince you our show is worth your time so we’re really gonna sell it to you Episode 1: We are making this with the mentality that more episodes are guaranteed, so we don’t gotta convince you that hard with the first outing

So now the Speaker of the House is saying that $174,000 isn’t enough to survive on without insider trading. At the same time he says $15 an hour is too much for minimum wage workers. These Republicans are unbelievable. Just disgusting human beings. Fuck the MAGA GOP. Seriously.

This is so fucked up. If you can't support your families on $200k/year then how can people making $20/hour? Fucking scumbags. Johnson needs to go. Stock trading MUST end. We need reps who aren't looting the markets, period.

“We have to have sympathy. We need to at least let them engage in some stock trading so they can continue to take care of their family.” - House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on lawmakers trading stocks.

“We don’t even make $200k per year” please shut the fuck up. We already have real idiots in Congress like YOU. You wanna talk about unfair wages? Why don’t you ask teachers how they feel? Or how about your employees who help run your campaigns to get you elected in the first place? Maybe your driver who takes you to work everyday? Why don’t you ask them about fair compensation. America is currently in an economic crisis with the majority of people struggling to make ends meet or find work. No one cares about a politician’s salary. We’re too busy trying to survive in the disaster YOU have created by doing nothing.
Rep. Jack Kimble@RepJackKimble

Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.

The average teacher's salary in Missouri is $55,132. The average length of a teacher's contract in Missouri is 181.4 days. If we aren't properly compensated, a lot of us will leave the profession and you will be left with some real idiots teaching your children. Did I do that right?
