It was a pleasure to visit @torfaenleisuret today to have such an interesting discussion with Chief Executive @benjeffreys & Head of Leisure Andy Robinson to hear their exciting plans for the future, and to see the great facilities on offer.
Back in 2012, a club united to achieve one goal. Promotion.
Ten years later, @PontypoolRFC is back in the @IndigoPrem!
The staff, squad, volunteers and Pooler Army have been incredible.
Pooler is finally back where it belongs.
It was an honour to be part of the journey.
🇾🇪
It was wonderful to watch @PontypoolRFC win the Championship Cup at @principalitysta today.
The staff, coaches, squad, volunteers and Pooler Army have worked so hard this season and their success is fully deserved.
They should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.
🇾🇪💪🏻
@apnightingale@pooler5 Thank you Andrew, I’m just a supporter these days but I’ll be there next week and I’m looking forward to watching the game alongside the Pooler Army. It’s an occasion that you all richly deserve to experience after all the support you’ve offered on this ten year journey!
Well 7 years ago almost to the day we walked away from todays ground gutted we blew our chance to get back up, knowing ring fencing would came in and we would have no chance to get back up for a prolonged period, @BenJeffreys and Peter could of walked away but they stayed 1/2
@wocka50@pooler5 Thank you both for the kind words. All the credit goes to @leighton52, the coaching staff and the squad for how far the club has progressed since those tough times. I’m also delighted for you as supporters, you’ve been there every step of the way and are a credit to the club.
@BenJeffreys Thanks to you and your dad we are now a strong club and going to the division we deserve, seeing yourself and especially Peter smiling from ear to ear yesterday just summed it all up.I know the work you both have done from the inside .
@pooler5@BenJeffreys Congrats to everyone at @PontypoolRFC Gar - well deserved today - I hope we can join you in the Prem! Hope you have a great day in the Stadium - Great to catch up earlier Ben - true gentleman 😀
What’s makes tonight special is the fact @BenJeffreys and Peter will be so happy tonight, after taking the club from its knees and giving us every chance to get back to the division we should never of been relegated from, they could of walked away so many times 1/2
@valleycraig@pooler5 Very well thanks, Craig. Enjoying a new challenge working with a great team at Torfaen Leisure Trust, but I’m also really enjoying seeing @PontypoolRFC having a superb season. I’m really pleased for everyone at the club.
Some personal news!
I’m delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for @TorfaenLeisureT.
I’m excited to be embarking on a new journey and I’m hugely grateful for this opportunity.
I’m looking forward to joining the team and I can’t wait to get started!
It’s time to say goodbye to @PontypoolRFC.
I’m grateful for all the kindness, patience and support I’ve received over the last ten years.
Welsh rugby has been a big part of my life. I’ll miss it, but it’s time for a new challenge.
Until next time, thank you for everything.
🇾🇪
I’m very saddened to learn of Eddie Butler’s passing.
Eddie was a legend of Welsh rugby. He was also incredibly kind and a truly wonderful person.
His loss will be felt deeply by everyone @PontypoolRFC.
My thoughts are with Eddie’s wife, Sue, his family and many, many friends.

Thank you!
Congratulations to @Bargoedrfc for their National Championship success this season.
They were a class above everyone else and are deserving champions.
I’d like to also congratulate @neathrfc on a strong campaign.
We look forward to an exciting battle for promotion next season.
@DanaJoh49661281@Puggster@PontypoolRFC You're most welcome, Dana. Drop me a private message and I'll provide my details. We'd also be happy to offer you a bucket collection and a curtain raiser game at one of our fixtures if it would be of interest... Whatever is best for you, just let me know and we'll get it done!
@Puggster@BenJeffreys@PontypoolRFC@BenJeffreys that is so kind of you, thank you so much!! We would love to take you up on this. Let me know how/who I would be able to arrange it with 🏉💪🏼🥰xx
We’d love to welcome Alfie, his teammates and their families to a @PontypoolRFC game with our compliments.
We’d also like to invite Oakdale U12s to Pontypool Park for a special training session delivered by our coaches.
Keep enjoying your rugby Alfie, you’re doing a great job!
I’d like to offer my sincerest congratulations to @neathrfc on a thoroughly deserved victory today.
I’m genuinely delighted for all the great people who have stood by Neath during some tough times.
They’re building something special and I wish them all the best this season.
👏🏻
@adamwwk@RugbyPhilBB@Rreesrugby And as for bringing mental health into it, that’s why I’ve grown to dislike social media as people like you like to make cheap capital out of my private life. To suggest I can’t criticise someone because I have mental health challenges is patronising at best.
@RugbyPhilBB@BenJeffreys@Rreesrugby Absolutely Phil. And I’m sure that Ben would be fully aware of how calling someone a dreamer and telling them that they’re widely considered to be a rank amateur could be received by that person. Here’s a screenshot of the now deleted tweet. “Be kind” and all that
Pontypool have signed Ben Flower on what I understand is north of £20,000.
Huge name in rugby league, and fans may recognise him from this rather unfortunate moment...
@adamwwk@RugbyPhilBB@Rreesrugby Let me be clear, I removed the tweet because I decided it’s best to take this up with Rob privately. But don’t mistake the deleted tweet for being a retraction. I stand by every word.
