Pretty interesting that Ryan Peterson’s eight innings of shutout baseball did not earn him CUSA Pitcher of the Week, but two pitchers from the same school that didn’t have lines as good as Peterson’s got co-honors.

He was not awarded CUSA's Pitcher of the Week over both Beau Bryans and Steven Cash of Jax State.
Bryans struck out 10 across 6.1 innings on four hits.
Steven Cash threw 7 innings on four hits. It was a run-rule win.

@JasonSPugh All of those things are important and have their place. And it’s OK to have a preference on what parts you like best.
But I find it unfortunate in today’s landscape, the historical/informational part of the job seems to have very little value.

@BenRikard I don't disagree with you, but I also believe there can be a balance. Of course, I was a sports writer before shifting to this, so I'm a bit biased.

Basically the main reason I got into this field all those years ago.
I will always love the historical and informational aspect of sports first.

We are now in an era of athletics defined by a lack of information. All sports info offices are turning into marketing and “storytelling” and media and fans are left to wonder whether any historical data is real or not because the actual information part of the job is gone.

Well said @CoachCarthel, been happening far too long, and if anything it's SFA or it's the actual name "Stephen F. Austin"...but on graphics for the game, scoreboard, etc...SFA is perfect and it's lazy otherwise.

Love that we got Sam Hou St changed here at Sam, and had zero resistance to doing so. I’ll never understand why they refuse to change SFA.

@Southlandish_ Agree, but there’s no perfect way to do it. SHSU is unique to us in abbreviated form and avoids being mistaken for other athletic teams, such as Seton Hall and Sacred Heart, on a national level.

I have a degree from the place, and I have to say- asking for SHSU to be used but to avoid Sam Houston State is terribly confusing and inconsistent
“Sam Houston” is stronger branding, but at that point just be okay with “SH” or better yet change the actual name

Backyard neighbor up and moved out this week, abandoning most of their stuff on way out.
That included a 6mo-old dog. In a crate. On the back porch.
I had no idea til cops showed up today to find it.
Hope authorities find them soon. There’s a special place for ppl like that.
