derivative apps have a short shelf life

Spend Markets from @americanspend went live for their whole waitlist today. I feel like this project has been overlooked but they've been building a rlly cool product that ingests 120-140M card transactions every night, roughly 1 in 3 daily card swipes in the US, and using it to run markets that settle against actual consumer spending data. This data lets u trade things that nothing else can. Some markets live now: will Claude or ChatGPT grow subscribers faster this month, will Trader Joe's grow weekly spend, will the average grocery bill fall this week? From there it can open up into rlly interesting use cases - isolating single businesses inside a conglomerate (Taco Bell on its own without the rest of Yum), building portfolios of completely private companies, trading clean L/S pairs based on purely sales/customers, etc Imo it's very similar to the attention markets that others have been trying to build, where u can long Labubus or long GTA 6 or any specific trend/item/company. But these markets have a much more concrete data source underneath them, so makers have an oracle to quote around and historical data to reference. The others have suffered from low liq and rough UX, hopefully this data enables them to be much more liquid and tradable. Still very early for them but I can def imagine some viral moments around these like we've seen with Kalshi/PM
