Really good to see Connor Benge out there. He can help this team. His numbers are inflated but he’s actually been fine. The two hits allowed at ULL were on an 0-2 97 MPH FB on the black and a bunt hit. He’s now faced 5 batters total, thrown 74% strikes and sits 96.

The final #LSU pitcher in action yesterday in a simulated closing setting was Connor Benge. The junior began his career at LSU-Eunice posting the second-most wins at the NJCAA D2 level (11). Benge spent 2024 with Dallas Baptist logging 35 strikeouts in 33 innings.

Eight years ago Connor Benge was hit by a line drive off the bat of Gavin Guidry while pitching. The two have kept up with each other from afar through the years. Connor was just 12 years old and suffered a subdural hematoma with a midline shift. Connor has played at both LSU-Eunice and DBU. Earlier today it was announced that Connor will transfer to LSU and join Gavin and the Tigers. What a remarkable story! Reminder to always protect your kiddos.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out this morning and last night. There was a very unfortunate play at the plate during last night’s game. The concern was not only a concussion but an injury to his neck. They stabilized him on the field and then called an ambulance. The GM of the Yard Gnomes went with him and was there every second. Jack’s host family for the summer immediately drove 2.5 hours to be by his side. (I had just left that morning to fly home) At 1:30 this morning his cervical X-rays and CT scan came back clear. 🙏🏼. He made it back to Greenville at 5:30 this morning. Another concussion but it could have been much worse. If you know Jack Holley at all though he would want everyone to know… HE GOT THE OUT! Again, thank you to everyone for the prayers calls and texts.
