A thread of how Sunflower was grown. Sunflower grew out of months of work examining why commercial LLMs break down on low-resource African languages. The result is a reproducible pipeline for Uganda’s 30 + languages that other regions can adapt. 🌻

Just a reminder that most of the ML being used in climate tech isn't coming from Big Tech companies. It's from companies like grid operators, (re)insurance, remote sensing, ag, etc, plus the public sector. Big Tech has some cool/flashy projects, but that's the tip of the iceberg.
