@Down_with_PE It is a loose parts area where students use the tires, poles and crates creatively to construct. I’ve seen castles, vehicles, balance games and towers. Student imagination and team work drive their play.

@BenjaminH44 Thanks for sharing, Ben! What do you do with the wood, tires, etc? It’s just there for creative play?

Anyone have/having success with recesses/breaks outside that promote physical activity for upper elementary students (10-12 year olds)? Looking for examples of #playground equipment and/or strategies to better engage students in #movement at break times. Thanks!

@andyvasily @mjhamada @KenForde Definitely interested to the ‘why’ teachers post. I definitely come from a generation of teacher that ‘what you do’ is greater than ‘what you say you do’. So am always looking for the quality in a post rather than the proliferation of content.

@andyvasily @thepespecialist As soon as we say the words “don’t give up” we unintentionally give the message that we believe our students give in too easily. Conversations about what doing our best looks, sounds and feels like are far better messages.

@thepespecialist What about a turn & talk ‘In what ways did u do your best today?’ Or ‘What does resilience mean to u? Or ‘what does it mean to try your best?’ Rather than telling & them repeating or answering in unison? Exit ticket/sticky notes? Would that work based on your limited time w/ them

@Down_with_PE Good one Marcus. I always say I’m a better PE teacher due to my classroom teaching experience and my classroom teaching is way better due to teaching PE!

My substitute teaching career began today. Happy for the opportunity to learn from other practitioners in how they set up their classrooms, etc. It’s also nice to interact with young humans again. I’d be a far better teacher if I did this 13 years ago. #education

@BerryHenson @LIVingItUpPod Also seems we judge the success of tournament golf in new locations with the same measure as established events from US and Europe.

@LIVingItUpPod Same situation when we played there in February. This is such a new sport in Saudi and from what I have been told from the Saudi players, its growing at rapid rate but this will take time as they only have handful of golf courses in the kingdom.
