If only for ⬇️conversion to open, but that’s changing as we convert less for subtotals. I don’t disagree with your idea, but I don’t think it’s bad. We can both drive an ‘87 civic, but in the rain/snow/etc I’ll take the ‘24 model with AWD. Also ICG 👍🏼

It seems to me that the incidence of the major bad outcome (CBDI) is a very low incidence already, so you will only be able to show a difference by a large administrative database. And we know that if the database is large enough, you can mathematically show a difference in anything. And so in a sense, we would be making the robot chole happen because we *wanr* it to happen. Just my $0.02. (or should I say: my $2+ million 😉)

Surgery is compared to aviation frequently. They routinely have cockpit/cabin crews that have never flown together before, and I don’t think that’s shown to lead to more incidents. That’s why timeout and intros are important.

In other words, in large hospitals, you’re less likely to have a crew that you’ve worked much with before, or is familiar with your specialty.

Trivia of the day: The Coudé catheter was not named after a person..."Coudé" is just a French word that means 'bent', and technically you could use it for any other device that has an angle to it if you really wanted...🤔

🧵regarding the 'Fish' -- officially known as the Glassman viscera retainer. The Fish is an occasionally used surgical tool that is used in abdominal operations during closure of the fascia to cover the bowel, protecting it from being accidentally stuck with the needle. (1/ )
