Fadwa Barghouti, wife of renowned Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti, spoke out after the violent attack against her husband and says his conditions in Israeli prison are steadily deteriorating. Marwan has been held in solitary confinement since November 2023 and suffered several violent attacks in recent months. In August 2025, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir released a provocative video taunting and threatening the severely weakened Barghouti in captivity. In the statement relayed by the Free Marwan campaign, Fadwa wrote: “What the occupation has failed to understand throughout the past quarter century – and still fails to understand today – is that Marwan has never wavered in his conviction that freedom is a fundamental right and that occupation is destined to end. He has rejected both surrender and despair, believing that resisting occupation while striving for a just peace that brings it to an end is both a national and a moral responsibility.”

Trump’s Justice Department has opened a grand jury investigation into UAW President Shawn Fain, alleging abuse of authority and that he retaliated against union VP Rich Boyer, who is currently running for the presidency in a challenge to Fain’s incumbency. Fain has denied claims he misused his authority to benefit his family, and in a statement released Sunday said he will “fight back hard” against what he slams as false allegations fed to the union’s federal monitor Neil Barofsky: "Let's be clear about what's going on here: Rich Boyer has fed the monitor false allegations about me and is now trying to weaponize these bogus allegations to steal the upcoming UAW election. He knows he can't win a fair fight because he has no real platform to run on."

The July 7 ICE killing of 52-year-old Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo has sparked protests across the country. Salgado Araujo was on his way to work when unmarked vehicles surrounded the vehicle and opened fire. Three others, including a family member of Salgado Araujo, were taken into DHS custody during the incident. Salgado Araujo's family are calling for an independent investigation into the incident. ICE detained over 10,000 people last week amid a sweeping immigration crackdown.

Now organizations providing free food are being hit with citations for "illegal street vending" that can even lead to arrests.
