All that is of value in human relations involves a loss of sovereignty.

@epkaufm Tories like him are retarded. He thought leaving the EU meant the British people wanted more immigration from the Commonwealth. But the only Commonwealth countries Brits feel an affinity with are Australia, New Zealand and Canada, not India, Pakistan and Nigeria.

@KirstieMAllsopp @rachelmillward You don’t appear to have thought about this very much. Criticising Israeli actions is not anti-Semitic. You can object to the Green campaign on other grounds, but this is bogus, and only serves to further endanger Jewish people by binding their identity to the actions of Israel.

Zack Polanski tonight quoted @rachelmillward & said "We need to end the divisive language of setting one community against each other - and bring people together." yet this is his party’s ad. The hypocrisy is mind blowing. “ instagram.com/reel/DXC93QlkZ…

@Electroversenet Who is paying you? Why are you so clearly partisan? Why are you using this claim to attack other causes of climate change?

For years we were told thawing permafrost would unleash a methane bomb. But new pan-arctic research dismantles those fears. Across Canada, Greenland, Siberia and Alaska, scientists found methane-eating microbes dominating methane-producing ones. This means that even under thaw conditions, the Arctic can act as a methane sink, not a source. Other studies echo the same result. Natural microbial competition suppresses methane, not amplifies it. The latest data all point one way. Runaway methane was just another overhyped climate scare. Nature has it covered.

Gillian Tett, "We live in a hate filled, polarized age whipped up by social media" "Tragically, at the same time the elephant in the room is that Netanyahu has tried to present any criticism of his policies as anti Semitism and that has become collated" "And unfortunately what's happened is that it's entirely valid to say I dislike what Netanyahu is doing the Middle east, but I also love the Jewish community" "That has not been said nearly enough" "That distinction has not been made" "And that's again adding to the problems" "And of course the other issue is that there are Iran, other actors who are very determined to whip up both dissent in Britain in general, but also anti Semitism in particular" "And Iran has a long history of interfering in that way. And I haven't seen any proof that they're involved in this latest, wave of anti Semitism, but it would not be a surprise given the pattern on social media recently" "The other thing I'd say is that speaking as, someone who's overseeing an educational establishment, it's critical that we all work to educate the next generation to have empathy for each other and to understand the difference between having a point of view on a policy, say around Israel, and actually a people, and actually not letting that in any way spill over to anything other than having the courage to stand up and say whatever I think about Israel, I'm going to stand up and celebrate the amazing Jewish community" Victoria Derbyshire, "Are you having those conversations with your students at Cambridge?" Gillian Tett, "We absolutely are" "And actually by funny coincidence, Rabbi Jonathan was at King's College as well. So, I'm hoping he'll come back and talk at some point. But he's also doing amazing work on interfaith, dialogue and that's absolutely critical" "We've actually increased our Middle Eastern study series in the college pretty precisely to try and create a culture of understanding, education and a willingness to be curious and listen above all else"

🚨This doesn’t sit right with me knowing that this King has sat idly by watching his country be invaded by Islam while Britons are locked up for social media posts. He may be the weakest King England has ever had.

@PippaCrerar @Annaisaac 1. He didn't have to disclose it. 2. Bitcoin is mainstream now. It's not illegal, and the exchanges comply with FCA regulations. Profits are taxed by HMRC. Inferring it's something dodgy shows a lack of understanding.

@IainDale So a British rail company is going to upgrade its service presumably without charging more simply because a US train is nicer? Is that how capitalism works?

@LizWebsterSBF @LJRyder16 @OliFletcher Farming is only part of the solution if it’s sustainable. Otherwise it’s part of the problem. So farms need to provide habitat to prevent biodiversity loss. The challenge is how to combine that with sufficient food production. Growing grains to feed meat is inefficient.

🆘 Listen to @OliFletcher rural historian and farmer: “WW1 and WW2, Britain couldn’t fully feed itself but we pushed hard to maximise domestic production to free up shipping for armaments and essentials. It led to a rural revival, and historians broadly agree it was the right call. Europe kept that consensus until Brexit. Now we’re heading down the wrong path again. We need to re-implement measures like the War Agricultural Executive Committees (set up in 1936 before WWII) to ensure food production.” 🎙 Food Fighters podcast: share.transistor.fm/s/0f6ef85a

@DavidGauke @ConHome Would Thatcher have succeeded without North Sea oil, and what of the relative economic success of higher tax economies in Scandinavia? Deregulated economies may grow faster, but the chaos and inequality of eg the US suggests this may not be sustainable.

Haig called his own 1982 Falklands plan ‘a camouflaged transfer of sovereignty’ to Argentina. Now the Pentagon is signalling agnosticism about their lawful status because of a tantrum over Iran. Allies that treat your sovereign territory as a bargaining chip are not allies.
Katy Balls@katyballs

On the Falklands, a State Department official said: “We recognize de facto United Kingdom administration of the islands but take no position regarding sovereignty.”

I suppose you watch the hopelessly biased C4 news or BBC news. And i bet you never watched GB News for more than a couple of mins, and outsource your opinions of it to their competitors. You do realise that prominent and rabid lefties like Matthew Stadlen, Andy Twelves, and ex Labour ministers are on it daily?

It was a terrible choice. But it wasn’t a matter of national security. Just my reputation — and subsequently, health.

@afneil Andrew leaving the BBC for GB news was also a terrible choice, everyone is capable of making terrible choices and regretting decisions.

@LizWebsterSBF @LJRyder16 @OliFletcher The video calls for a WWII type effort for national yield maximisation. That says nothing about family farms, but it does imply intensification and environmental damage. The whole fascism thing is a desperate red herring. I’m not sure this chat is worth pursuing.

@BenmoMorris @LJRyder16 @OliFletcher We are accelerating to rely on imported food reared using methods and chemicals banned here and also standards here are dropping and intensifying. My own interests would be served by selling up for development for handsome sum and moving to a country which has good food.
