@ATIAdvisory’s founder, Anne Tumlinson begins her testimony before the Senate Special Committee on #Aging by calling for investments in #HCBS. “Our #HCBS system and its infrastructure are vastly underdeveloped to meet the needs of the growing population that will need #LTSS.”

The game is rigged. Every single time there is a campus outbreak this fall and athletes, other students, and campus workers of all sorts get sick, the explanation will be individual moral failure to ‘act appropriately.’

Per CovidExitStrategy.org Every state completely below the Mason-Dixon Line with the exception of New Mexico has uncontrolled spread on 8/3/20 Every state west of the Mississippi except NM, MT, WY has uncontrolled spread

However, even existing criteria from the White House show most states struggling. This data means little if governments fail to respond by reversing opening, expanding testing/contact tracing, and returning to social distancing policies. (10/10)

Changing demographics may mean we need to reinvestigate our criteria for reopening. To keep infections low, perhaps case counts should trend downwards for ALL age groups and states should set a threshold of new cases that, if reached, should close parts of the state. (9/10)

Here’s a quick and dirty peek at why the COVID death rate dropped despite high case counts. While this decrease in death may be due to better case management, the virus’s shift from older people to younger less vulnerable populations is likely a stronger explanation. (1/10)

@trvrb Could you provide the full link to the COVID view data? I'm struggling to find it. Huge thanks in advance!

Here, I downloaded COVIDView data and slightly prettified their plots. If we look at testing in commercial labs, we see that across confirmed cases, there are slightly more cases in the 0 to 49 year demographic than there were in April. 6/10

A small follow up to the "long plateau" assessment of the #COVID19 epidemic. When I tweeted this on April 30, we had ~30k daily confirmed cases and ~2000 daily deaths. This last week, we had ~24k daily confirmed cases and ~700 daily deaths. 1/10 twitter.com/trvrb/status/1…

I know all the discussion is about a possible "2nd wave", but I've found this odd given that we haven't finished the first one. I would think quite possible that, nationally, we're in for a scenario of a long plateau. 1/10
