Today’s Vectr4 build log: I changed the IP geolocation database. I was using GeoLite2 City, but every self-hosted user would need to create an account, download the database, manage licenses, and configure everything before seeing data. Vectr4 aims to be: docker compose up and done, that felt like too much friction. Sooo I switched Vectr4 to IPinfo Lite.( after tenuous Research of 1 minute) The trade-off is that I lose city-level geolocation and only keep country-level location data. Very few need exact city-level precision on day one. In exchange, I can bundle the database directly with the application (with proper attribution), removing another setup step for self-hosted users. One step closer to: docker compose up Lets see how it gets running in the MIniPC #selfhosted

Thanks for the appreciation, means a lot!✨ Uhm, biggest challenge would be the memory allocation and management, which still gives some pain even after lots of optimizations and strategies for memory management since OS has the control over it. But yeah, the thing is the shipped working prototype is already there, you can definitely have a look at it! Alongside, i have a few major updates ready and will be launched tomorrow, stay tuned!✨
