NEW: Family attorney releases bodycam footage of St. Louis police fatally shooting 17-year-old during foot pursuit after stolen vehicle stop
On June 18, 2024, St. Louis Anti-Crime Task Force officers attempted to stop a stolen silver Mazda SUV near Whittier and Maffitt in The Ville neighborhood.
The driver, identified as 17-year-old Emeshyon Wilkins, bailed out and fled on foot.
During the brief pursuit, bodycam video shows officers yelling commands as Wilkins was fatally shot.
The family’s attorney released the footage and an independent expert report, claiming the officer violated department policy and that Wilkins did not have a functioning gun in his hand (disassembled parts were later found in his pockets).
Wilkins’ family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city and the officer.

They are doing this because they do not want AI companies to use the archived pages to train large language models. This surely protects their content from scraping, it also limits public access to historical news records. It makes it harder to track how stories change over time and preserving journalism

He is constitutionally protected under the 1st Amendment right to freedom of press. This bill is unconstitutional, and opens them up to lawsuits.

Under AB 2624, government-funded entities like the Somali “Learing” Daycare centers would be protected from being exposed if they operated inside California. The enemy truly is within.
