@blackswampfb @CoachSmith_10 The current D7 is just the old D6.
It’s not a divisions problem, it’s a regions problem.
English

In '76 there were only 3 divisions. Generally you have at least a couple finals that come down to the wire. Divisions 3-7 this year had very dominant teams and the D7 state championship was played in the regional semifinals and finals. Personal opinion is there are too many divisions. With 5 or 6 divisions you would have seen much more competitive games.
English

@MartinRPI @blackswampfb Use Martin RPI to re-bracket everyone at the regional final round. Then, play an 8 team tournament to determine a champion.
Problem solved.

@blackswampfb @MACScores @midwestathletic It would be an awkward Christmas if it ended with malice. You’d have to explain to grandma why you were punching your cousin in the face.
English

And classy to see Marion Local immediately head to the handshake line after the first loss of their careers and St. Henry kids not celebrating like they won the Super Bowl and also lining up to shake hands! The @MACScores @midwestathletic is different. Take notes kids and adults!

Classy move by Marion Local to take a knee down 24-7 as their 76-game win streak comes to an end to St Henry.

It's obvious you didn't play high school football in Ohio and lose in Ohio Stadium twice in the state finals. If you had, you would understand that going and playing shitty larger schools during the regular season and getting blasted by a school your size in the state final is better then winning the State Title 74-0.
English

Some of the comments under this are head-scratching.
Marion Local plays under the same rules as everyone else. They have 108 boys in their entire school. They shouldn't be forced to play schools with hundreds of more boys because they are better than everyone else.

Division VII State Championship 🏆 *Final Score* Marion Local - 74 Hillsdale - 0 Marion Local rolls to its 15th state title, as this D-7 juggernaut looks as strong as ever. The Flyers extend their win streak to 64, having not lost since 2020. @NEOSportsInside

@Champ_Dawg9 @MR_K_LEE @chokincryinRyan @BuckeyeLeafGuy Since you know this so confidently, which surrounding communities are sending their kids to ML?
English

@MR_K_LEE @chokincryinRyan @BuckeyeLeafGuy Nobody is moving there. They’re recruiting kids from Surrounding communities. Marion Local even has Open Enrollment.

@pricexxi @lordhelpus12 @barcat_bigstool @ShayneNissen @reineytiger15 Yes, a lot of bad teams make the playoffs. From D1 to D7. That fact isn’t exclusive to the small divisions. My only point is that small school football in western Ohio is extremely good. ML’s win streak has included multiple state champion teams, multiple larger schools, etc.
English

@BertLukey @lordhelpus12 @barcat_bigstool @ShayneNissen @reineytiger15 My point of the argument was that they had no problem for 4 rounds of the playoffs for 3 straight years State title or not after competitive regular season’s. You decided to cherry pick & hang onto State title’s being the only Barometer of playoff success.
English

@pricexxi @lordhelpus12 @barcat_bigstool @ShayneNissen @reineytiger15 You’re making my point for me. They were “fully stacked” and Coldwater blasted them. I’ll give you one guess who Coldwater lost to that year…
English

@BertLukey @lordhelpus12 @barcat_bigstool @ShayneNissen @reineytiger15 That was the only year they were fully stacked because as freshmen, most played 4 full years on Friday nights and were 4th year starters by their senior year. Go look at the next 2-3 years from 2015-2017. Boccutti was starting as a 13-14 year old for them in 2011.
English

@lordhelpus12 @barcat_bigstool @ShayneNissen @reineytiger15 When I played, Canton CC ran the D5 playoffs, but would be in close games with all sorts of the D1/D2 schools in Stark. Once they hit the playoffs and didn’t have to play any of us locally, it was smooth sailing for them & even my friends on that team would laugh about it 🤣
English

@JustBaker9 @MartinRPI @ScottTruxell Because the two best teams should play in Canton. They did it in 03 and it resulted in a great, competitive final.
English

@BertLukey @MartinRPI @ScottTruxell They have never done it when 2 MAC teams run into each other in the semis. Why should they start for Columbus Grove?
English

@MartinRPI @ScottTruxell OHSAA should do the right thing and separate R26 and R28. (They won’t, but they should.)
English

@ScottTruxell They won’t be playing each other. Real State champ game will be Marion Local & Grove in the State Semis. Although ML will still roll
