One of the biggest fear-based arguments against Alberta independence is: “What about Indigenous people?” My answer is that Indigenous communities will not lose from Alberta independence. They will in fact gain: More local control. More prosperity. More resource opportunity. More direct partnership. Less Ottawa bureaucracy. In this clip from Sylvan Lake, I talk with a strong independence supporter about why this question matters, why the treaties need to be taken seriously, and why Alberta independence should be about building something better, not leaving anyone behind. I took a stance last night on stream for independence. Not one person over another but the tone of how this vote moves forward. While I jump in on the "fun" wagon of nominating "leaders" , I personally feel that none of what we have done so far is behind any leader. Its been Albertans that got us over the line on signatures. Albertans who signed them. Isn't that what grass roots is? I suppose I made a mistake requesting that cooler head prevail in terms of the branding of an October a 19 vote. It seems to have poured gasoline on an already uncontrollable fire. Seems no matter what I say, people will assume im picking sides or paid off or whatever they wish. The reality is my pay has always come from viewers. People who support what im doing. Just like people supporting a free and fair Alberta. At the end of the day folks this wasnt about a single person. It still isn't. Not even myself.. The directions things are going and the attacks (especially off camera) are enough to almost drive me out. I cant leave though. I committed my convictions to independence. I believe in it. Maybe moving forward I will just focus on what I can do to help. I won't be jumping into anyone's squabbles or nonsense. If people want to eat each other alive and waste their energy there, thats up to them. Trying to figure out a direction here is mentally exhausting. Im drained. At the end of the day folks I wanted one thing and didnt care where it came from. I wanted independence. I will be here for people and I will do whatever I can to help. I won't stay silent but what I do think ill be doing is taking a bit of a back seat and just hope in the background that somehow this doesnt get obliterated by the negativity. I cant control others. Ill focus on what I can do. Sorry if I've given anyone the impression ive taken a different direction. My direction always has been and will continue to be independence.

Canadian Liberal Energy Minister said the quiet part out loud. He is “highly confident” that Alberta oil sands companies can pay more… How much more will Albertans allow Ottawa to bleed from us? Enough is enough. On October 19, vote for sovereignty.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe says he's not in a position to tell Albertans how to vote on a potential referendum question on independence and says he has no issue with Danielle Smith's choice to hold a vote.

I look forward to a serious and respectful debate tonight with former Premier Jason Kenney. Albertans deserve to hear both sides clearly. I will be making the case that independence offers Alberta the best path forward.

So 50% + 1 is apparently not enough for Alberta’s independence vote 👀 Carney really doesn’t want Alberta to separate Imagine that, the majority isn’t enough. This is a so called democracy

Mark Carney got 30.1% of the vote from eligible voters in Canada and then he stole a majority. Total power with 30% of the vote. and hes over here telling Alberta that a 50% + 1 referendum is not good enough to leave Canada. F'k Mark Carney!

Here is Danielle Smith’s response to Carney calling the referendum a “dangerous bluff” Carney in my opinion should never have said what he said. He needs to stay out of Provincial matters and let the process proceed without his rhetoric.

Carney is wrong on two fronts. One, that the Clarity Act applies to the October 19th referendum question as posed. It does not because the question is not binding on the question of secession. In fact, that's exactly why so many people are frustrated with the question, it's non-binding. Two, 50%+1 is a democratic majority. There's no question about that. With someone who literally has 50%+1 seat to hold a majority government, he know this is true. What Carney is doing is what Carney does best, lies with a smile.

There’s nothing extreme about Albertans asking a simple question: Should Alberta be governed by Albertans, or by politicians in Ottawa? October 19 matters.

You can only abuse people for so long, until they decide to fight back. An apology is owed. And for Albertans, an apology will not be enough. For starters, they need to fix the seats issue, among many many other things I hope they do not leave. But I do not blame my friends.
