Tower Hamlets: One of the least diverse councils Britain has seen in years - the Veil Collective plus chest-beaters. And Surrey gets the Lib Dems.... Surrey - one of Britain’s most entrepreneurial and productive counties, a free-market powerhouse built on capitalism and a serious generator of tax revenue for the nation. Now handed over to a party with zero wealth-creation pedigree. Most of their members are public sector lifers who treat private enterprise like a problem to be taxed, regulated and restrained at every turn. Are Liberals just pre-socialists - like pre-diabetics? We’ll be fine, won’t we? Just expect higher council taxes, more regulations, and Ed Davey throwing himself into another reservoir for the cameras.

So the moral of the story is that the public sector should stay out of the free market - whether property deals or solar farm gambles? Public officials who’ve spent their entire lives on the taxpayer teat have zero real-world clue about industrial strategy, markets, or risk? Having seen the Woking report, what that council needed was more oversight. Covid changed the whole picture. Mass migration places a major strain on councils and the police, who are left picking up the tab for burdens that barely existed 20 years ago. I could easily list 15+ extra costs. Running a council is incredibly challenging enough without these new burdens. Not sure how the Lib Dems are the answer to this. Given the chance they would double govt budgets on everything: NHS, Send, etc Maybe constrained this time! How is AI being used right now to cut the number of people in local government and actually reduce costs?

@BestCryptoPlan @LibDems The Conservatives had driven most of the West Surrey counties into debt! £4 billion of it in fact. For each person living in Woking £25,000 of council debt had to be paid. That is the definition of mismanagement and terrible local government.

The Lib Dems - a party created by "Public Sector Lifers" to spend more money on themselves. Surrey is turning into mini Canada right before our eyes. Gosh, I really hope it doesn’t follow the same path. Surrey: one of Britain’s most entrepreneurial and productive counties, a powerhouse built on free-market economics, capitalism, ambition and serious tax revenue - hands power to the Big State party that treats private enterprise like a problem to be taxed, regulated and restrained at every turn. Great... (So who exactly voted for the Lib Dems in East & West Surrey, apart from the obvious public sector, NGO and quango lifers???

The Lib Dems - a party created by and for "Public Sector Lifers" to spend more money on themselves. New problem? Tax business harder. Not the people using the service. Add fresh regulations and higher energy costs for good measure. Yet here we are: Surrey - one of Britain’s most entrepreneurial and productive counties, a powerhouse built on free-market economics, capitalism, ambition and serious tax revenue - hands power to the Big State party that treats private enterprise like a problem to be taxed, regulated and restrained at every turn. The consequences are entirely predictable. Just look at Canada: years of big-state policies, heavy taxation, regulatory overload and net-zero zealotry have delivered falling investment, capital flight and stagnant growth. Can we not try to reduce the size of the state? Use AI to reduce the number of civil servants by a third. Make it make sense. (Who voted for this in East Surrey and West Surrey, apart from people that work for the state?!)

East Surrey - a county forged on enterprise, ambition, and raw business energy, one of the highest tax-contributing places in Britain - has been conquered by the Big State Liberal Democrats. The same party that treats private enterprise as a dirty necessity to be taxed, regulated, and restrained at every turn has now taken control. What a shame... Is it simply because the employees of the state are voting for the Big State Party?

Why is Surrey - a county powered by enterprise and already contributing some of the highest tax revenues in Britain - voting for a big-state party like the Lib Dems that promises even more bloated government? These are the same Lib Dems who richly deserve to be renamed the “Public Sector Party”. They treat private enterprise like a necessary evil that must be constantly taxed, regulated, and restrained. The result? Stifled innovation, slower growth, and the gradual strangling of businesses that fund their expanding public sector dreams.

So the lefty Lib Dems's Win in Surrey. Whats going on? Anyone? Play spot the councillors. 1. Any English Speakers - Looking solid, mostly i think...well done. 2. Pink Fringes - none, well done. 3. Front for Gaza/Islam - no, maybe front for the cycle lane mafia 4. Compassionate Liberals - who ignore the costs of immigration… until they glance nervously over their shoulder on the high street at 10pm. Yes i can spot some. 5. Public Sector Lifers - on the taxpayer teat their whole careers, no private sector reality check. Definitely. 6. Pre-2016 Euro workers — still dreaming of Brussels bureaucracy, suffocating regulations, and the EU’s status as one of the slowest-growing regions. Hard to spot unless waving an EU flag, but probably. 7. Veil Collective - (Hijabs, Burqas, Niqabs). Not yet dumped here. Cant see any chest beaters as no one beating their chest.... 8. NGO/Quangos/Refugees Organisations - Yes Local MP. Worrying though for no 7. 9. Guardian-reading professionals - academics, media types. Cant see anyone wearing a BBC name badge. Can you? 10. Private sector workers /Entrepreneurs — not sure. Maybe the odd gay florist, ethical business owner?? Maybe Surrey hasn't got the national message yet. That British families dont want to be treated as 2nd class citizens, called far right, whilst you fawn over the immmigrants give them homes and 1.2 million on benefits. Yes the Lib Dem need their votes, but even so. #LocalElections #LE26 #Election26

Ive read the manifesto! Anti-business pledges: expanded employment rights, higher corporation tax, higher capital gains tax, DEI initiatives, world champions in regualtions, higher energy costs for business, expansion of the public sector which crowds out the private sector, endless govts spending that fuels inflation. All this stifles innovation. the Lib Dems treat private enterprise like it’s a necessary evil that needs constant restraining. Compare the EU to the USA. You could rename the "LIb Dems" as "The Public Sector Party”.

Liberal Democrats are now the only party strong enough to stand up to the populist extremes and protect our country from chaos. We will be the rallying point for all those who believe in building things up, not burning them down. We will be the positive change millions of people are crying out for, fed up with Labour and the Conservatives but horrified by the rise of Reform.

For me leftist is " anti - business" - taxes on business to pay for yet another govt programme, pile on employment regulations, embrace suffocating bureaucracy, and generally treat private enterprise like it’s a necessary evil that needs constant restraining. Innovation? Stifled. Growth? Secondary to expanding the state (which is already bloated enough). Solution to every problem: more rules, more quangos, more public sector jobs. Oh and they are pro-migration.
