@CharlotteJPerry @1goodtern I agree with you and I supported the versions we had in the US. We really needed to get out messaging quickly how people could do things safer. Although around my area people still gathered at houses & went shopping & meeting up outside to eat. The US never truly locked down

@1goodtern I was a huge lockdown advocate and still think it was necessary. I used to say things like this until, much longer into living a high risk zero covid life, my neurodivergent kid fell apart. Now I realise that we were just lucky to have had the means to make it that long.

When a parent says that their children were irrevocably damaged by spending two months at home with them, I think that says a lot about the parent, and not much about anything else.

@ESL_fairy @1goodtern This is so true about not enough action to support adult trauma. People suffered in so many different ways. Even though staying home wasn’t hard for us, the unknown of situation really amped up my anxiety & I know that was mild in comparison to what hcw are still experiencing

@1goodtern The pandemic has been a shared trauma for many. Mental health has been impacted negatively for so many people, and we haven’t done enough as a society to take care of the adults in crisis who are caring for children. We need two full time child and youth workers in every school.

@nanobot_bedbug @jengingras @1goodtern I agree about the whole rural experience making the experience easier. I grew up in a small farm town with not a lot of kids around so we entertained ourselves. Through the whole time we were home we coped pretty well cause we are introverts and loved not having to be on a lot

@jengingras @1goodtern My kids have always been really good at entertaining themselves which I agree comes from the rural experience. Very different from suburban life in many ways.

@1goodtern Interesting you say this. My husband (MD) said a few months ago he thinks some of the med issues I have been having are linked to my May Covid infection. Just 5 days ago he told me about the paper in Nature regarding Covid and immune system harm. They are really coming around

Message from surgeon friend today saying that he's beginning to suspect that repeat Covid infections are causing cumulative damage and that covid is harming immunity.

@mealsonwheels26 @rgay OMG my daughter is in 1st grade and I was happy she was learning the multiple ways of making a number. UNTIL her teacher was like she can’t grasp the concept and this was in November and they started school day after Labor Day. Geez chill the f out schools
