. @VerizonSupport one of the cell phones on our business account has been inaccurately classified as a victim of fraud & been shut off. It’s been over 1 week of trying to get this number working. It’s causing lost business. Our business is ready to switch carriers. Please DM me

Sunday was World AIDS Day. I am remembering my clients and friends who died of this disease. Some of them inspired my TEDxMalibu talk “Death and the Desire for a Hollywood Ending.” Especially Rob, who introduced me to the concept of a “Hollywood ending.” youtu.be/UGk0QosaRJc?si…

“The Deathbed Regrets Voter Guide” views the 2024 elections from an end-of-life perspective. It’s not just candidates who are on the ballot - this year we’re voting for our values and the type of country we want going forward. Thanks @medpagetoday @genevievefri

OK, I don’t want to blame the victim, but if you live in NYC rule number one is you don’t interact with anyone you don’t know in the streets Someone tries to stop you, walk faster & put your hand up and say “No!” Loud enough for other folks to hear you They will look for another mark Be alert at all times, someone walks toward you walk away faster or duck into a store — do not worry about offending them, worry about the 1% chance they are clocking you

@KeenanPeachy @Jason This same man has been scamming people for yrs in the Topanga/Woodland Hills area. He tells us he is a surgeon at Cedars & needs gas to get to his celebrity patient in BH. He left his wallet at another celebrity’s house in Calabasas. I fell for it. He is still doing it. 🤦‍♀️

.Here is the hilarious story of the one time in my life I fell victim to a con artist, and how I got the chance to take my revenge: Part 1: When: ~10 years ago. Place: Studio City, outside Gelson's, a high-end grocery store. I was sitting outside the market having coffee after dropping the kids at preschool when a normal looking, well spoken Asian American man approached me. His story was that he was an architect and his car was stuck at the gas station across the street but he'd left his wallet behind in his office in the South Bay. He pleaded for me to lend him $20 and he'd immediately Paypal me back. He didn't match my con artist profile in my head; his Asian privilege and normal demeanor and desperate pleading worked on my bleeding heart. I handed him a $20 and told him to keep it. As soon as I handed him the $20, he sprinted away. I instantly replayed his words back in my head: "I left my wallet at my office in El Segundo." Apparently we were both Tribe Called Quest fans. I knew immediately I'd been had. I ran after him screaming "you liar!" He dove into a beat up car in the far reaches of the lot and a lady at the wheel sped away. I have never felt more stupid. Part 2: Maybe 8 months later, I stopped in the same neighborhood at night to get gas. The credit card machines at the pumps were broken so everyone had to go in to the cash register to pay for their gas. I was standing in line behind a tiny old woman in her late 70s. She gets to the counter and says to the gas station guy; "Can you please put $40 on my card? It's for my friend over there -- he left his wallet in El Segundo." Shocked, I looked around and sure enough, there was my con man standing by the door, waiting for her card to go through. She handed over her card and he left the store to pump his gas. I went right up to her and told her that he'd given me the exact same story and stolen $20 from me, and to cancel the purchase immediately. "He told you he was an architect and left his wallet at the office, right?" She was horrified. The gas station guy cancelled the order. I ran out of the place and he was already hitting up another lady pumping her gas. I yelled at him to get lost and told the entire crowded gas station that he was a thief and a con man who was stealing people's money. The con took off on foot, running for his life. I got in my car and found a different gas station. I reported him to the police but they literally didn't care. Oh well, at least I got a fun story. And it only cost me $20!
