He eventually called. Dismissed my pain. Suggested codeine (addictive pain killer) and said he can’t really help (by following up on basic request) and wait to see gynae, who I’ve been waiting to see for over 6 months. I’m tired and angry and in pain. This should not be normal.

Been on GP call back list since this morning….called to check they’re actually going to call me back at 4pm. Was told it will be in next 20 mins. At 5pm was told only 2 others still on list. Now 6.10pm. Call back again or just cry?!? 😩 Women in pain are the LAST ON THE LIST! 🤬

Today is my 17th wedding anniversary, 29yrs together. Alcoholism took my husband 9yrs ago, the Lord took him in January. I’m so sad today. #Alcoholism #AlAnon #soloparent #Widow #Anniversary

@jennyeclair On our family camping trip last year, my wonderful dad, Grampy to 7 lovable rouges. Trooped them all off to the coop to get a ‘holiday magazine’ which used to be our holiday treat as youngsters. He looked like he’s seen a ghost when they returned to the campsite 😂 💸💸💸

@soloparentuk I’ve told my year 6er it’s testing the school not him, which is fact. It’s been SATs mocks this week, he came home Monday reporting the teacher said she was stressing out cos they hadn’t been working hard enough!!! Erm nope! No one puts that on my 10yo and she was told.

It’s my husband’s funeral today. A wonderful life lost far too early to alcoholism.
My children have only known him as an alcoholic, a fun one at first but it didn’t last.
We never gave up hope. God Bless Paul my life has changed🤍

I’m heartbroken but I’ve worked AlAnon and I KNOW I couldn’t save him, it wasn’t on me.

The really frustrating part of addiction is that until a person is ready to stop, they're just not going to. There's nothing anyone can say or do. And the unfortunate part is that sometimes people die because of that.

I’ve had a shower this morning, I’m taking it as a win.
I’m struggling with the family tussle as to who is grieving my husband the most.
I’m using all my #AlAnon knowledge on getting through each minute for my kids.

I’ve just had to tell my children their dad has died.
He fought the disease for so long, I had the upmost faith in his long term recovery, it’s not to be.
He was part of #RecoveryPosse for a long time, TY to all who reached out to him over the years.

@soloparentuk If addiction is at play, it’s best to detach with love.
Signpost to recovery support, homeless shelters. If he’s in active addiction by refusing his sister’s offer he probably knows he can’t protect her from his addiction.

If anyone has experience or advice on how to help him to accept help pls let me know. He also has drug addiction problems which have lead him to this place. Downward spiral…. No one knows how to help if he won’t accept any help 😖 x

Someone I’ve known since school has become unhoused. He could stay with his sister. She has a spare room and has invited him to stay to get back on his feet. He won’t because he “doesn’t want pity”. As friends and family we’re worried about him but he won’t accept help.Feels sad.
