If the Bucks conduct a search for a new GM, which they should in light of Jon Horst’s repeated miscues, two people they should contact ASAP are Oklahoma City GM Sam Presti and Boston president of basketball operations Brad Stevens.
They are the gold standards of NBA GMs and the Bucks should open the vault to secure one of them.
If the Bucks whiff, though, there’s still some highly competent and experienced GM candidates worth pursuing, including;
— Tim Connolly, who excelled in Denver and now in Minnesota as the Timberwolves president of basketball operations.
— Donnie Nelson, a brilliant basketball mind who, left the NBA a few years ago after building the Mavericks into an elite team.
— Masai Ujiri, a former NBA Executive of the Year who helped construct the Raptors 2019 championship team.
