Young footballers…. one bit of advice from an old guy that’s been round the block a few times. Don’t chase the steps let the steps chase you! So many of you out there desperate to play that extra level, which will cost you long term sitting on a bench getting splinters. ⚽️

Well the 25/26 season has come to an end. Its been some ride, from dropping out of a move to Mid sussex championship and then thinking ill have a year away to being asked to help out at copthorne when they parted with their manager, which swiftly become permanent half way through a season as the assistant . Its been some ride and I’ve learnt so much at such a young age, I’m willing to take all the stick, it’s part of football. The boys have given it their all and it just wasn’t enough to get results. Since joining the main priority was to get the behind the scenes right first as we knew we had to much to do in the league for safety, in which we have since hired a fully qualified physio and secured a new ground share, these are steps in the right direction long term, but for now its time to accept whats happened and re group in a new division. What looks like such an ugly place to be in, I’m okay with it now as i know copthorne will be back. Stronger than you guys know us to be. Thanks to all the lads that stayed until the last battle, it shows true character and thank you to all the Managers and coaches in the @TheSCFL div 1 for showing me the same respect you would anyone else. Roll on 26/27 @CopthorneFC

Correct me if I’m wrong, Surely asking to go down as a club that very well could’ve stayed up in the league they’re in is part of the problem that he is suggesting? Hashtag will go down 1 maybe 2 leagues, with their brand new ground and a team with a few players less than what they could’ve been successful in the current league, making more money than all the clubs 1 maybe 2 leagues below due to their social media platform and recent investors. Whereas you have teams like Three Bridges and EastGrinstead Town who are on much lower budgets and have got to where they are off years of ups and downs. Really don’t mind whats happening there, but feels like it’s a bit of a sulk move due to their first kind of “bad” season. If its a team he wants where its not a huge financial problem then maybe tier football isn’t the way, if he wants a cut in a proper football team it should’ve been sold up last year take a decent % for being the founder and sit back. Even KSI knows theres too much financial work in English football so took a minority % in a team thats not out of reach from hashtag and we all know that blokes minted.

As a parent I hate football at times,the way you have to watch your boys become resilient and deal with the messing of their heads & not always getting the respect back they always give. But other times I love it & last night was 1 of those moments ❤️🖤
