Emergent's $100 million ARR puzzle: What counts as revenue in the AI era Manav Garg, founding partner at Together Fund (an investor in Emergent) said the startup combines subscription with usage-based pricing. “A user might pay $10 per month for access and then additional credits based on usage. This is not seat-based pricing,” he said. AI tools are also beginning to replace certain forms of human labour, which are billed hourly. “That's a fundamental shift from how SaaS pricing worked,” he said. “This is actual revenue, money that comes into the bank,” he added. Emergent said it has over 100,000 paid subscribers, with around 70 percent of revenue coming from “power users”, typically SMBs and individuals building multiple applications.
