She, her father, her brother, her nephews, her family — all of them were/are in politics since decades, from state to centre.
And yet.. they couldn't make one university where they'd be comfortable sending their own kids.
Such incompetence is truly God's gift. Many congratulations @supriya_sule ji.

🌟Imagine looking at a distant star and knowing its exact temperature, pressure, and chemical composition just by analyzing the light it emits. Before Meghnad Saha, stellar physics was largely guesswork and qualitative observation. His "Saha Ionization Equation" changed everything linking the laboratory physics of earth to the macro-dynamics of the cosmos.
🌟The ,he was the first to apply the principles of physical chemistry and thermodynamics to the atmospheres of stars. He realized that at the extreme temperatures found in stars, atoms do not just collide, they break apart into ions and free electrons. It allowed astronomers to precisely calculate the ionization state of elements in a star's atmosphere based on temperature and electron pressure. This single equation, Saha Ionization Equation, is globally recognized as one of the ten most important discoveries in the history of astrophysics, allowing scientists to classify stars and map their chemical evolution.
🌟He recognized early on that nuclear physics would dictate the future of energy and global science. He introduced nuclear physics into the postgraduate curriculum of Calcutta University. In 1950, he founded the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) in Kolkata, which housed India's very first cyclotron (particle accelerator), laying the foundational bedrock for the nation's nuclear research.
🌟He did extensive research into the Earth's upper atmosphere. He investigated how solar radiation interacts with gases to form the ionosphere, establishing the first specialized laboratory for ionospheric and radio-wave research in India.
🌟Having grown up witnessing the devastating floods of the Damodar River, he combined his knowledge of physics and hydrology to propose a scientific solution. He studied river systems globally and proposed a multi-purpose river valley development plan modeled after America's Tennessee Valley Authority. This directly led to the creation of the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), India's first multi-purpose river valley project, which provided flood control, irrigation, and electricity to the region.
🌟He believed that political freedom would be meaningless without economic and industrial self-reliance. He convinced Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (then President of the Indian National Congress) to form a National Planning Committee.
🌟In 1952, the Indian government appointed Dr. Saha as the Chairman of the Calendar Reform Committee. He was the main architect tasked with integrating over 30 conflicting regional, religious, and astronomical calendars into a single, scientifically accurate system. His work resulted in the National Saka Calendar, which remains the official civil calendar used in Government of India gazettes today.
🌟He founded the journal Science and Culture to serve as a fierce public forum. He used it to critique short-sighted colonial policies, advocate for rapid industrialization, and push for the popularization of science among the common masses.
🌟Meghnad Saha was a fiercely independent, self-made man who rose from severe poverty to become a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS). As a schoolboy, he was once expelled from his boarding house for participating in a boycott against a British Governor's visit.
He consistently refused to let science remain an elite pursuit confined to ivory towers. Driven by a desire to see scientific planning implemented without bureaucratic interference, he ran as an independent candidate and was elected to the Lok Sabha (Indian Parliament) in 1952. He spent his final years in parliament fighting passionately for the socio-economic rehabilitation of refugees following the Partition of India.
🌟"Scientists are often accused of living in an ivory tower... but if science is to be a real force, it must be linked with the life of the common man." — Dr. Meghnad Saha

Vikasit - How?
I was watching an old television debate on the 1992 Budget today. What struck me was not the politics. It was the way people spoke.
No shouting matches. No personal attacks. No anchors trying to create drama every second.
People disagreed, sometimes sharply, but there was still respect in the conversation. They listened. They spoke with facts. There was depth, patience and a certain culture in public debate.
And honestly, it made me wonder. As a nation, are we truly moving forward? Or are we slowly losing something important along the way?
India in 1992 was far less wealthy and far less advanced technologically. But in many ways, public discourse seemed more intelligent and more civilised. Knowledge mattered. Serious conversations mattered.
Today we have faster internet, bigger studios, sharper graphics, louder nationalism and endless opinions every minute. But are we becoming wiser? Are we becoming kinder? More thoughtful? More cultured?
A civilisation does not decline only when its economy collapses. It declines when its conversations collapse. When reason becomes weakness. When shouting replaces thinking. When performance replaces substance.
Watching that old debate felt less like looking at the past and more like holding up a mirror to the present.
What exactly have we changed into?

Surya Kant called unemployed youth “cockroaches.” Ironically, cockroaches enter places searching for food, water and shelter. They’re drawn to crumbs left behind by a decaying system. Maybe the real problem isn’t the unemployed youth, but the people at the top who turned the system into a damp, crumbling structure in the first place. And for the record, cockroaches survive disasters. Termites quietly destroy the foundation from within.

🚶♂️FOOTPATHS vs SURVIVAL — CAN KOLKATA FIND THE BALANCE? ⚖️
Completely agree. Kolkata urgently needs a balanced long-term policy — protecting livelihoods while reclaiming footpaths for pedestrians and improving traffic flow in key areas like Chowringhee, New Market & Esplanade.
Dedicated, well-planned vending zones may be the only sustainable solution.
I had recently written on this issue here 👇

Let’s not forget about this. We are hoping that there will be stricter regulations regarding hawkers encroaching on footpaths, especially in Chowringhee, New Market, and Esplanade areas, and that they could be properly relocated to dedicated vending zones.

Where were your tweets when governments milked the public for 4–5 years while crude oil prices were at historic lows? You’re a Chartered Accountant, right? Then you should know exactly how much money was squeezed out of citizens during that period. Isn’t that public money? At this point, it genuinely feels like the government is running a coordinated campaign to keep fuel prices artificially high and exploit taxpayers.

I attribute it to two factors
a) Passing Effect - What they experienced as child, and they are passing on the same to next generation
b) Lack of Awareness towards Parenting -
Unfortunately, our academic curricula have avoided many life skills, and parenting is one of them.
This is really sad to witness in land wherein IKS has taught parenting as core value before entering the journey of parenthood

@drsunita02 This is so true for so many of Indian parents infect few of my gora colleagues once laughed at that we don't allow our grown up children to chose their future partner:)

Why do some parents restrict their children so much??
Restrict them in their choice of career, studies, future spouse and even in simple stuff like hobbies or mingling with friends??
No wonder, one fine day the child rebels and cuts ties with the parents and parents don't understand what hit them.

शरीरमाद्यं खलु धर्मसाधनम्
Today, I officially received my DM in Medical Oncology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi.
Years of training, long hospital nights, difficult conversations with patients and families, moments of hope, moments of helplessness, and countless lessons… all led to this stage.
Medicine teaches science.
Oncology teaches humanity.
Grateful to my teachers, mentors, colleagues, friends, and especially every patient who trusted me during their toughest battles.
This degree is not just an achievement.
It is a responsibility I will carry for life.

Look at this SHAMELESS clown, flashing that disgusting SNEER & SMILE after DESTROYING the futures of 22 LAKH students.
NEET papers leaked right under his useless nose, yet this gutless COWARD is running away while still smirking like he’s won a medal.
Arrogance and IMPUNITY at its most VILE peak.
An utter DISGRACE of an Education Minister, a permanent, stinking blot on Odisha.
History will remember these TRAITORS with pure, burning contempt.
