@TGC THANK YOU someone for finally saying this! I’m no chauvinistic, dominating husband, but all this “she’s the boss” talk in the church just reveals how much we’ve accepted feminism as the way of things.

@ZachLowe_NBA You know what I will always remember? Your tweet… “We are all dead.” Laughed so hard.

@JonKellyDFS @WorldWideWob I’m 41… go shoot all the time for exercise and it’s fun cause I used to play. Every now and then the young guys need one more and ask me to run. I’ve been convinced for a while now if I really try to get back into it, I’ll tear mine. Gotta just accept 41.

@DennyBurk Poorly worded but maybe he’s just thinking like James 2:14-17

The politics are all wrong here, but more importantly the theology is all wrong. It is a serious error to suggest that God has no hands but our hands—as if His divine power is limited to what humans can achieve. This is a de facto denial of God’s omnipotence—which is heretical. Pray for miracles. God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20). “All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand…” -Daniel 4:35

America is praying for Austin. But there is something profoundly cynical about asking God to solve a problem we're not willing to solve ourselves. God moves and works through us. God has no other hands but our hands. We must act.

The idea that God needs us to do things for Him that he cannot do Himself is laughable and biblically illiterate. The God who spoke all things into being and parted a sea by His own breath and raises the dead without us does not need our hands to do anything.

@brettmccracken enjoyed your new TGC article on It’s Not Like That. We’ve really enjoyed the way Young Sheldon pictures the funny side of Christians while not demeaning the faith and even showcasing its goodness at times.

@collinhansen It’s a lyrics-first song, what’s the problem? Well the lyrics are a little repetitive. Uhh basketball’s a little repetitive.

@lukedsimmons @AJWTheology If you’ve got good elders, shepherding is enough. There’s nothing in the Bible about the pastor as CEO/visionary. Thats our own modern invention.

Four major adjustments for first-time lead pastors: 1. Weight of role — presence & words mean more 2. Preaching must improve — Sundays come relentlessly & require a lot 3. Leading an organization — shepherding isn’t enough 4. Financial fluency — need comfort w/ money issues

@michaeljkruger @TGC I'll tell you what did it for me... John Piper's intro to his sermon on the woman caught in adultery in John 8. He made what should have been boring sound absolutely fascinating.

If you think the study of textual criticism and New Testament manuscripts is now "cool," there is a 30-year history of evangelical scholarship that got us here. My latest @TGC article explores how textual criticism is a key part of our modern apologetic:
The Gospel Coalition@TGC

Scholars like Bart Ehrman and Wes Huff are bringing an obscure academic discipline into the mainstream. How can textual criticism help us in apologetics today? thegospelcoalition.org/article/textua…

@BillSimmons Looking for a good Larry Legend biography on Amazon and there's really not one. You know you'd be perfect for this. Give a gift to the world. I know you're busy but there's no one else to do it right.

@MarkVroegop Thinking about this new TGC preaching cohort. Is it essentially just 6 lectures? If so, what is the COHORT aspect for? Is there homework? Q&A? How does it work? The website doesn't answer those questions. Thanks.

@bobby_jamieson About to start a sermon series on Ecclesiastes, and ‘Everything is Never Enough’ is already super helpful. Tons of gold in there. Hope my people don’t get tired of hearing me cite you.
